At a dinner party several weeks ago, the topic turned to Bush & his administration. All of my friends HATE Bush so you can imagine our comments were critical, to say the least. One gentleman offered the following story: a friend of his works for the DNC in Florida, and told him that back in 2003 there was "talk" amongst members of the GOP to replace Cheney as VP with John McCain. Cheney had health problems, plus a number of people felt his image was hurting the GOP; McCain was interested in the idea...until members of Bush's gulag went to him in private and said if he did NOT step forward as an alternate VP they would back him as the 2008 Republican nominee as President....ONLY if Jeb Bush was his VP.
Pretty scary!!! I will be watching the GOP in the upcoming Presidential election; if this happens, I guess we will know his story was true!! mad.gif

Either way, I would rather vote for Hillary than Mcain or Jeb.

I don't really like Hillary and I don't think she can win.
Mcain was cool until he got on all 4's for the Bush/Cheney 04 ticket after they stabbed him in the back in 2000. I have no respect for that guy anymore. Years and years of independence from him washed away with him falling in line and supporting those who slandered him.

And as far as Jeb goes, I have had enough with the Bush family.

I've been going around every since the general election saying Bush and McCain was on a mission to see how the two looked together when they went stumping around the nation together on Airforce 1. The fact that Cheney has hung on like a bad cold is surprising. If they can rid themselves of Cheney (which seems likely his heart can't take many more investigations) McCain is sitting as pretty as Gerald Ford was back in Nixon's era, as far as being an easy shoe in. The fact that McCain would become a natural candidate for the republican party is an easy fit too. As far as McCain having Jeb as a VP, I think it would be a fine time for turning the tables and getting back at "W" for those hateful things Rove dreamed up about the McCains. I am sure that McCain is looking only to get the nomination and then he'll make the decision that Jeb is too risky to have as a VP candidate. The problem then becomes whom would McCain choose?

I still think McCain won't make it out of the primaries. Not a proven track record for the right-wingers. Watch Gingrich, this guy appeals to the right a lot.

I should add that whenever I have mentioned this story, the general consensus is that anyone with the name of Bush doesn't stand a chance in 2008 - Bush has made so many mistakes and lied to the world AND the American people so many times: WHY would anyone in their right minds trust someone from that family?!!
My fear is that, having stolen the election in 2000 and 2004 (I am no conspiracy nut but from everything I've read I firmly believe both elections were stolen!!) that with Jeb Bush as a potential VP the neocons and the Bush family think they can do it again.
