Al Franken said at a book signing in Edina, that he is giving serious thought to running in for senate in 2008. I'd vote for him. You bet!!!!!!!
EddieRocks
Seriously? ohmy.gif

I haven't been able to listen to him lately. Kudos to him though if he actually jumps in.

I think he should too! cool.gif

All the skeletons in his closet will come out.

Starting with the Gloria Wise FOundation $800,000 he claimed no knowledge of; the firings and lawsuits, the floundering and sudden investment by George Soros in AAR.

Then you add in his personal problems (anger episodes, verbal taunting, losing control) and he is dead meat.

Nobody in Minnesota would vote for him. They cannot stand him. His charity fundraiser the last couple of days they were giving tickets away to get a full house because people would not pay $25 to see him even if it was going to charity.

He's been talking a lot about runningfor Wellstone's seat. and, he's moving back to Minnesota.

We need him to run.

And there is proof he knew about the money taken from the Foundation? And that he condoned it? C'mon, troll, you should know better than to make such weak accusations in this forum. If Franken was complicit in the crime, he would have been indicted. Instead, he invested his own money to keep AAR afloat in its early days and to repay the GWF.

BTW, Katherine Lampher wasn't fired. She left to write a book. As for the firings on other shows- remember radio is driven by ratings and advertising. The folks fired from Morning Sedition, for example, just were not very good and nobody was listening- unlike Al Franken.

Really? The fear of negative publicity never stopped Slant Head Hannity or O'Lielly from their tantrums. It's really funny how you righties carp about Franken's rants and yet you are profundly silent when Cheney swears at a US Senator. Hypocrisy, anyone?

Are you sure? These are the same folks that elected Paul Wellstone. Given the public mistrust of the Greedy One Percent for its mishandling of Iraq (among other things). Franken would have a really good chance in 2008.

Again, I ask for proof. Articles are OK; links are much better. If you want to make such inflammatory accusations, you'd better be ready for the heat or else you'll just be labeled: TROLL!!! user posted image

He is a very intelligent and funny guy.
It takes a while to get use to him but once you do you realize just how smart he is.
I'd vote for him for sure.
Kenny
I've been able to catch some of his show this week. He's been really funny.

I guess he's doing a series of live shows. The guy grows on you that's for sure.
Dr Morbius
The thing about Al is, he's sarcastic. And if someone sarcastically says something with which you disagree, you're probably going to be filled with contempt for him. As the right is.

smile.gif He did his show here in Madison Tuesday. My husband and I got to the theater an hour early and had to go to the balcony to find empty seats--it was standing room only. He's very, very popular here. (Big Eddie could probably sell out the Kohl Center stadium)

Franken was dropping hints about running for office during that show.

That's not what I've witnessed. Of course he has skeletons in his closet.
I wasn't aware that you've talked to EVERYONE in Minnesota and that they made you their voice. I know you didn't talk to me and I live here. Also lack of turn out is not what I've witnessed. Of course maybe what you said is your own opinion, your certainly entitled to that.

Amtrak, what you said about him usinghis own money to keep AAR afloat is
exactly what I heard as well. Actually I thought AAR was kind of his idea.
I also heard Katherine left not just fo her own book but I thought she was having her own show.

I've met him several times at books signings. Super nice guy.
Takes time with anyone that want to talk to him.

Al Franken just doesn't appeal to the middle of the road voters. I don't think he was personally responsible for the AAR scandal. But it will be implied in ads successfully he was. I just don't see him appealing to enough of the moderates that decide these elections. Ed would have a better chance.

Have they actually conducted polls in Minnesota that show he doesn't appeal to "middle of the road voters"?

Surprising to me if that's the case... unsure.gif

I'd like to see polling data if there's any available.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

He has long been interested in politics.
It was apparent for years that he had a good grasp of what he was talking about.

Back in the days when they'd have him on occasionally - Politically Incorrect in the late 90's.
And the hilarious bits he did with {then Republican} Ariana Huffington.

Franken would make a brilliant Senator -- a Harvard grad & successful writer.
Funny & incisive. Brought us a lot of elucidation & humor when he worked Saturday Night Live.

Would that be something really different? -
A senator who can both cut to the chase
AND be interesting & entertaining!

Be a change from the smarmy Normy Coleman you got.
RayL
smile.gif I'd vote for Franken. I trust him. And I believe there are many people in Minnesota who would.

He's real. He's no phony. And everyone has skeletons in their closet. It's called being human. Some skeletons are just more signifigant than others.

I think Al must be real scared. After all, I think if Al has skeletons, NORMIE "PUPPET-BOY" Coleman has not only skeletons but corpses of afftected people in Minnesota from the failed policies of "his precious" W

All things point to his running ( moving back to Minnesota, show based to Minnesota ) but I don't think he will announce his running until sometime summer-fall of 2007. Why announce early? It only gives Normie extra time to plan his attack (whic I'm sure he is already doing)

I am fairly sure he will run. as has already been pointed out, he's moved his show here. I also think there is alot of support for him here as people continue to be disillusioned with Senator Sprinkle. I am still ashamed I voted for that turncoat for mayor when I lived in St. Paul. Norm sucks, plain and simple. voting most of the time with the moron in chief. ish.

and I think he won't announce it for a while........

I agree.........and all of those qualities you mentioned above can't be claimed by any Right-Wing talker.

I would be intersted to hear a Rightie try and name one Radio talker or TV for that matter that they can honestly say that the person is always honest and straight forward!!

They can't do it, because the person doesn't exist!!
