Not necessarily separate...just a way to slip in & out of different forums depending on one's mood, and that goes for right & left. So we know where we stand in certain forums. No one is saying anyone is limited to certain places.

Maybe they need some suggestions.

Bush is the smartest president in history.
Iraq is going exactly as planned.
Taking money out of social security will save it.
Trickle down is a proven method of boosting the economy.
Clinton caused it...stole it...killed him...raped her...sold it out...caused the recession...let him get away...said it too.

Well, this is pretty much as I envisioned it. No one has even said anything yet, and the lefties have already started the snide sniping. Heads you win, tails we lose, I guess. Feel free, as I think that this artificial separation is a little bit silly anyway. (No offense, Sheriff) I'll let you know right now that even though I will not be allowed to participate in your elitist Lefty discussions, I'll still be silently thinking that some of your arguments are specious and silly.... Just so that you know. rolleyes.gif

Sheriff have to be honest the whole thing seems a little weird to me, I would hope the goal is too bring more people towards a goal that is best for country. Seperating us adds to the division, but I do understand some of your reasoning.

Was registered dem for 14 yrs(most of my voting life) and was proud of that. Have been registered Independent for last 6-7 yrs. Problem was felt Democratic Party left me years ago. Never have voted 100% for any party. Went from ~80% dem vs. ~20% repub to 20% dem vs. 80% repub. I usually have views that irritate far left and far right people.

Taking money out of social security will save it. A portion of it to invest in private accounts will help, you bet.
Trickle down is a proven method of boosting the economy. Absolutely. And the economy is humming, which in part is why the Republicans will stay in controll of both houses.

scoutster, just wondering, with your past, what happened to make you feel that President Bush is the way to go?

Did the democratic party leave you or did you leave it?

by your accounts you did a 180, besides Clinton, what made you go from left to right?

I'm not being a smart ass, I am truly curious

QUOTE(Schultzee @ Nov 26 2005, 09:35 PM)
Bush is the smartest president in history. Nah, just the right guy at the right time

That statement is belied by:

Iraq is going exactly as planned.  Yes and one day you will look back and say "wow, I guess it was worth it afterall.

Never in my lifetime could I ever have imagined seeing someone of reasonable intelligence be able to look at a situation as bleak as Iraq and somehow come to the conclusion that it's all part of a plan. It sounds so much like what the nazis had to do in the bunker.

Taking money out of social security will save it.  A portion of it to invest in private accounts will help, you bet.

Please explain how removing money from a system that is already headed for shortfall will help that system...and how the two trillion it will take to pay for the changeover to partial privatization is going to be raised? You DO realize that even the majority of YOUR party rejected that idea.

Trickle down is a proven method of boosting the economy.  Absolutely.  And the economy is humming, which in part is why the Republicans will stay in controll of both houses.

The economy is propped up on hundreds of billions of borrowed dollars...and every American of conscience and intelligence knows it.Clinton caused it...stole it...killed him...raped her...sold it out...caused the recession...let him get away...said it too.  No comment.

That is a pretty tough question, and it deserves more than just a token answer. When I have some time, I'll send you a PM with my thoughts. I'm personally not a big fan of labels. But for the purposes of this board, I think all would agree that you are not in the 'Progressive' camp as defined by the people who are in the Progressive Board. As always, feel free to contribute in the General section, or on this forum.

I agree that I so not belong on the Pro only site and I only have a desire to read what they are saying I guess thats still OK? I am quite serious about the questions asked and I thank yo for taking the time to reply. I am thinking of a General post to ask the same questions to all. I think it would be interesting to see a more detailed describtion of everyones positions.

yep, feel free to read what is going on in the progressive site. And rest assured, I will answer your question by PM ... and maybe on the MB (just give me a few days to hire someone really smart to get the right answer ... no just kidding, my time is short, but I will do it when I'm not frazzled).

I'm sure the answers will be all over the spectrum. As I said, I don't care for labels. For example, I'm pro-choice and pro death-penalty. Where does that put me in the spectrum. At least you can say I'm consistent.

I'm not sure. Depends on what you mean by smart. Also, I have not followed her closely enough to make that judgement. That being said, I do like the fact that she seems to be the only Dem (at times) that has a backbone.
