All those lost jobs in the auto industry are NOT Chinas fault and NOT the Health Premiums fault and not the Unions fault! I was disappointed in ED for not challenging the Senator directly on all her excuses.
THE AMERICAN PUBLIC WANTED MORE FUEL EFFICIENT CARS AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY AND CONGRESS, WITH ONLY A FEW DEMOCRATS INCLUDING STABENOW, TOLD US ALL TO GO F--- OURSELVES!! Repeatedly!

The losses are a direct result of poor auto sales due to managements refusal to make more fuel efficient cars.

The public wants off oil! Period! End of Story! DEAL WITH IT!

Management should be fired for taking their companies in an unpopular, UNSOUND
AND DEAD WRONG direction.

THE AUTO MAKERS SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR THEIR DISLOYALTY TO US!!!

But, this could be a good sign of things to come in that its a good lesson and a blow to Congress and Corporate America that they better start giving some serious thought to the future of the long-term consequences of their actions because individual Americans en masse can and will and did exercise THEIR FREEDOM of CHOICE TO PROTECT THEIR OWN BOTTOM LINE!!
et tu!!

In terms of wanting more fuel effciency I'm with you, zmom, but I don't see that the American public as a whole agrees with us.

For the last ten years or so we've been on an gas guzzling orgy that is now showing signs of waning only because the prices are starting to hit where it hurts. For the past decade the bulk of GM/Ford/Chrysler profits have come from the sale of gas hogging SUVs and trucks while smaller (relatively) fuel efficient models sit on the lot or get sold to fleets. Even Nissan and Toyota have gotten into the act with 18 mpg 2-ton tanks like the Titan and the Tundra because there is a market for them. I think that we are slowly, very slowly, coming round but it's hardly a mass movement.

Uh, with just exactly what documentary did Michael Moore get his start with? Seems he got some sorta award, too. Something about his friend Roger and Mike's hometown of Flint Michigan......

We gotta work together. If you are frustrated go outside and scream "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!!" Then maybe try out for a part in "Annie!" Worked for Finney.

Seriously. We have got to work this thing hard. Walk precincts, expose truths and avoid the old "My Liberal bias can kick your Liberal bias" stuff. I will stipulate that there are many smarter'n me. Richer, too. We just have to ask that beyond talking, what are they DOING? wink.gif sad.gif
