Compass Media Networks announce the debut of The Norman Goldman Show into national syndication weekdays 6pm - 9pm ET with a program specifically designed for progressive talk stations. Goldman has been filling in for Ed Schultz (the country's top progressive talk show) for the last few years. He’s a regular on cable television and was recently picked up the Huffington Post as a regular blogger.

Peter Kosann, CEO and Founder of Compass Media Networks, tells RBR: “We see the next progressive radio star and his name is Norman Goldman. Norman is extremely compelling and eager to work hand-and-hand with affiliates to drive ratings and revenue."

"We have methodically developed Norman's brand to give local affiliates a clear and compelling programming opportunity," said Bill Figenshu, President of FigMedia1 and advisor to The Norman Goldman Show. "After guest hosting for Ed Schultz frequently over the past four years, Norman is already well known and liked by audiences and advertisers of Progressive Talk stations from coast to coast. He has recently been added to the Huffington Post as a blogger in addition to his fill in work and full time show.

Affiliate benefits include: reduced network inventory, an all purpose fill in host at no charge, guaranteed market visits also at no charge and a prominent legal analyst made available to the entire cluster.

I wish Norman good luck in breaking into radio. That forum is doing through difficult economic times and is dominated by rightwing blowhards. Hopefully there are some program managers who will give his program a break because radio needs a variety of talented voices if it wants to remain viable.

Good going, Norman!

Norm is a great guy, full of enthusiasm and fire. He should definitely be picked up by stations.

It's a shame Kansas City, to my knowledge, has no "progressive talk stations" to speak of. But it would be good if someone here picks him up.

I really believe talk radio is doing everything in its power to drive away the non geriatric segment from listening. According to the May 2009 issue of Vanity Fair the average age of Rush's audience is 67 and climbing. I for the life of me cannot understand why somebody would spend a minute listening to that show because it is the most god awful boringest program on earth. Maybe if I was a couple of decades older he would make sense but for now I cannot listen to him because I have to stay awake during the time he is on. I also do not need to podcast his show because I have no problem falling asleep. Maybe if I was suffering from insomnia I would listen to his program at night. Rush and Tom Hartmann would make great sleeping aids.

But I digress. Hopefully some radio stations will give Norman Goldman a chance because he does bring a lot of energy to his show and he is very entertaining.

I understand! I've gone through several progressive-talk stations that suddenly turned into 24/7 C&W, or Full-Gospel Radio, without notice. Of course, I knew the culprits behind the switches - Clear Channel - with their headquarters only six blocks away from my apartment in San Antonio.
I know the players. They were big during the Bush presidency and I'm sure they were doing all their switching and program shuffling for a good reason. Doesn't seem to have changed....
If I can listen to Norman Goldman via computer, I don't give a damn about this stupid radio dial.
And, BTW: I LOVE Thom Hartmann and Ron Reagan! It doesn't all have to be bombast and who can talk the loudest. The Democratic Party is a big tent and there's no reason why we can't appreciate all the performers in the center ring....
