Full Version: Gregory _almost_ does it, but then fails

I only watched 5 minutes of news show this morning, for various reasons -- I'm not watching it now when David Gregory failed to follow up with tough questions against Boehner.

Gregory brought out the statistics -- the "if nothing is done, health care is projected to continue to rise to these levels ...." and asked Boehner if the Republicans were not the "Party of No," and if not, what were they going to do?

Boehner got away with saying "oh, we have all kinds of plans!" basically. Oh, he did mention two specifics -- "health care across state lines" and "capping malpractice suits" -- and here is where Gregory, failed, _big time_ -- not only did he not press Boehner for, "well, what _are_ those plans?" but he also failed to stop him on the points Boehner mentioned -- at least the caps -- that statistics from several sources have shown that capping awards in malpractice will only move the costs slightly lower, not anything near what is needed -- and Gregory, as a national news figure, should, and probably does, know that!

Furthermore, one thing I find totally lacking from reporters on the national stage, is any discussion of controlling or putting clamps down on all of the sickest industry practices -- such as dropping people when they get expensive to cover, denying people coverage who have "pre-existing conditions," and charging more if you are out of the region (like, on vacation) and something happens. It's as if the national reporters have no clue, themselves, about what is happening out there among regular people, all they focus on in that regard is the Republican focus of "taxes." There is more than that in this puzzle, but, like Gregory, most of them FAIL.

I used to be a junkie, but then I have been so disappointed in the "carry-through" by the moderators, and at least in a couple of instances, they tack significantly to the right -- or, maybe, just to surface topics and the juvenile. But, today, Obama was on all shows -- did anybody here watch? I had to miss most of the shows.

Honestly Patw,

Likewise, I used to be a junkie and tuned in to hear ever utterance of political fodder. But, it is obvious the media is insighting all this hatred by catering to the Republicans, it completely turns me off. I think it is just ridiculous the way Obama continues in the campaign mode while his Democratic colleagues, cautiously, sit back and wait for him to push for this healthcare bill.
