I have to admit, McCaughey can be very convincing with her magical bs, but when anyone who sells snake oil as good as the former Lt Governor of NY, no one can out best Jon Stewart who knows his facts. Last night's show was an extra treat.

Jon Stewart invited McCaughey to provide the exact passage in the bill that states end-of-life consultations would be “mandatory.” McCaughey admitted that the word “mandatory” never appears in the legislation but insisted that the doctors would be penalize for not providing consultations.

Stewart quickly corrected her. “That is not in in any way what this said.”

“You and I disagree about the reading of this bill,” said McCaughey. “Because under the new Medicare pay performance system, doctors who don’t adhere to the protocols delivered by the federal government on what is cost effective and appropriate care get dinged in their payments. They get paid less. There’s actual financial pressure,” she said.

Stewart disagreed. “That’s not the interpretation of the bill. The interpretation of the bill is to get empirical evidence complied on things that work. It’s following science for medicine,” he explained.

I think the misconception some, particularly on the right, may have is that just because Jon Stewart is a comedian he can't be serious and intelligent as well. Anyone who goes on his show should expect just as serious a debate as any other cable news program.

Keith Olbermann said last night that sources close to him said that she was fired from Cantel Medical Corp after she was taken apart by Jon Stewart. That's because these Medical-Insurance corps want good convincing liars in the field, not idiots who can't speak above 5th grade level of education.

But don't despiar Ms McCaughey. You might consider hooking up with Sarah Palin to compliment each other over at Fox Comedy News to further your batty career. Besides that you're better looking than Palin too. Go for it.

Betsey McCaughey, credited with creating the myth that the health care reform bill will create 'death panels' forcing senior citizens to forego medical treatment sent a letter of resignation to Cantel Medical Corp where she has served as a director since 2005. This news came the day after McCaughey appeared on Comedy Central's Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

McCaughey tried to defend her opposition to the health care reform bill but Jon Stewart had no trouble winning the interview that became a debate.

In her letter of resignation, Cantel announced that McCaughey was resigning"to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest during the national debate over healthcare reform."

Rumor has it that McCaughey was asked to resign. But there is no confirmation at this time.
