As evidenced by the recent success in getting advertisers to cut their support, that much is possible. Getting Fox News to actually remove the guy and his ilk is another matter, because I doubt that's ever gonna happen. Unfortunately I think what it's gonna take at the very least is someone, perhaps many, getting killed for this to really get attention. In the recent past there's been murderers motivated by conservative commentators, and nothing negative happened to them as a result. I don't think anything is going to happen to them short of them actually saying "Go out and kill (insert name)."

The cow still gives milk. Bad milk, still milk.
Fox cannot BE anything legitimate anymore.

They'd take a bigger hit than now, if they dump a crazy demographic that keeps coming to the trough.
Therefore, running Beck without commercials during his timeslot doesn't change the advertising revenue.

They didn't remove it, they MOVED it.
Once the backlash of actually pulling spots from his show wears off, its back to the same place.

He brings the crazies.
Fox hopes they stay tuned for the rest of the lineup unaffected by outraged or savvy advertisers.
Maybe he'll be doing promos for other shows during the dead air?

this is the downside to allowing a massive media mogul like Murdoch (how's that for alliteration). There's little anyone can do to rein Fox in. As long as they have that lifeline to $$$ they can get away with damn near anything.

But why are their ratings getting bigger? If most people claim they are NOT Republicans, who are the audience that has boosted their numbers as much as 17% since Obama got elected? I can't imagine why anyone would want to watch Fox, yet they get bigger numbers than BOTH CNN and MSNBC together. What am I missing here? scratchhead.gif

The election of a black man has driven conservatives over the edge, and they are frantically seeking solace from Fox News. It doesn't surprise me at all that Fox ratings are up.

Just MHO.

I think it is because, fox fans are research retards ... I bet many dont even use the web for anything other than forwarding e-mails

I would guess that most of fox/beck/rush listeners avoid ANYONE that thinks differently than they do (they have been told to avoid the "propaganda")
