Beeler's cartoon was actually, very good (sorry, I don't have high-speed to get you all a linkie).
It depicts Obama standing with the short, fat "bidnessman" version of Uncle Sam. They stand in the middle of a totally empty warehouse floor. A sign above a guard at the door, says, "United States Treasury." There are a handful of coins on the floor in front of Obama and "Sam."
Obama is saying, "So, after all the bank bailouts, auto bailouts, stimulus, etc. .. what's left for health care reform?" Uncle Sam says, "Change."
LEFT OUT: THE WAR WE GOT LIED INTO (IRAQ), for which we are in debt, because the Bush "it's just pieces of paper" (Treasury notes) Administration raided the Treasury and paid for it over the 6+ years _they_ were in power, BY BORROWING FROM THE CHINESE. TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH, which has _never_ been done before in a time of war in the history of the United States, for which George Bush and the Republicans paid for BY BORROWING FROM THE CHINESE. Oursourcing, which George Bush and the Republicans doing the bidding of their rich corporate contributors, UNDERCUT OUR MANUFACTURING BASE. Bush and the Republicans' LACKDAISICAL FINANCIAL REGULATION AND OVERSIGHT, which led to the near-brink of the collapse of the American economy -- does anyone not see how disastrous this might have been, worse than any terrorist attack on New York City, but brought to you by so-called Americans?
Then there is PAYMENT ON THE INTEREST TO THE DEBT.
NOW, after you've added all that, Mr. Beeler, then you can add the things you did.
Beeler -- you are more partisan than intrepid.
** Now we've got pressing needs - vitally, massively, urgent needs -- to stop global warming, stop terrorism around the globe, stop the growth of population, help bring back agriculture and discover why the birds, bees, bats, polar bears and wild salmon are collapsing, and, oh-by-the-way, health care for all Americans, and let's fix America's crumbling infrastructure (dead after years of anti-tax Republican neglect). And the Republicans, those schmuck hypocrites, cry about the money these _vital_ things are going to cost, after they've willfully destroyed everything else.
