QUOTE
At a rally today in California, Gov. Sarah Palin offered up a rather jarring argument for supporting the Republican ticket. "There's a place in Hell reserved for women who don't support other women," the Alaska Governor said, claiming she was quoting former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

The statement came after Palin had recounted a "providential" moment she experienced on Saturday: "I'm reading on my Starbucks mocha cup, ok? The quote of the day... It was Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State [crowd boos] and UN ambassador. ... Now she said it, I didn't. She said, 'There's a place in Hell reserved for women who don't support other women.'"

Actually, Albright didn't say that. The real quote is, "There's a place in Hell reserved for women who don't help other women." (Sources made the same point to CBS's Scott Conroy.)

Palin seemed to realize that the line could be viewed as grating. As the audience cheered, she remarked: "Okay, now, thank you so much for receiving that well. I didn't know how that was gonna go over. And now, California, let's see what a comment like I just made, how that is turned into whatever it'll be turned into tomorrow with the newspaper."
Yes, the evil media; shame on them for noticing that you misquoted someone. And what an obvious shameless and cheap ploy, playing the gender card, and how scripted - she allegedly got that quote earlier that day? Yeah, right. Very "providential" the way that was scripted for her.

Hey, Governor, I'd like to help you ... stay in your beloved Alaska come November and not have to move to Washington which you find so repugnant.

Dumb ploy. When she speaks to the nation she speaks to Joe Sixpack. Come to California, and speak to us elitist Bucky drinkers. And how stupid does it get when you can't even read the side of a Starbuck's cup and quote it correctly. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Send her home.

Here is the actual quote.... in context

As American women, however, we need to be careful not to superimpose our image of how to do things on women from other countries. But, information must be shared. A woman who gets power – either because she has a particular position in society or government or because she has a cell phone – can't become a queen bee! Women must help other women. I have this saying that I use quite frequently, which is that there is a special place in hell for women who don't help each other. A woman with power must understand that, in actuality, her role is to help others. For a woman who wants to be at the center of power, she must understand that her power is actually maximized by encouraging more women to participate in the system.

SHe also said this.

….I believe it's important for young women to respect the experience of older women. In the United States, a lot of young women don't know how much people my age went through to achieve what we have. Older women's hard work and achievements should be respected. At the same time, older women must remember that they're not going to be around forever and that their big legacy is to let younger women take on increasingly important roles. They must view young women as legitimate players within the system. It's a two-way street

Also, how soon Palin forgets that her Minister said, to paraphrase, IF YOU DONT VOTE FOR SARAH PALIN, IT IS A VOTE AGAINST GOD.

Palin said, yesterday, That women will go to hell if they don’t support other women, which she attributed to Democrat Madeline Allbright, former United States Ambassador.

She misquoted it, BTW.

Here are some comments made by Victoria Jackson, of SNL, who is a a devout Christian and a Palin Backer.

Here is one of her quotes.

"I don't want a political label, but Obama bears traits that resemble the anti- Christ and I'm scared to death that un- educated people will ignorantly vote him into office."

Good catch NEM. Maybe Palin's misquote wasn't an accident. It was another *wink* signal to the radical, religious right wing.

It's a wonder we don't see this tool Victoria Jackson on TV or film anymore. Aside from lack of talent, she's probably blacklisted herself with her extremist beliefs. What a nut job. As I said, she always played a complete ditz in all of her roles, but that apparently wasn't acting.

From her website:

QUOTE
Thank you President George W. Bush (along with God above) for keeping us safe these last 7 years, from terrorist attacks on our homeland. I really appreciate it very much. xxoo You did a Great job!

And, Thank you God above for giving us George W. Bush, and for giving us John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Why am I voting for the fantastic McCain/Palin ticket? Simply because my "world view" is based on the belief that The Bible is the inerrant, holy, Word of God, and the Republican stance on abortion, marriage, government control, taxes, education, health care, charity, military, defense, democracy and freedom - lines up closest with the Bible's message.

Albright responds:
QUOTE
Albright responded to Palin's remarks in a statement to the Huffington Post on Sunday. "Though I am flattered that Governor Palin has chosen to cite me as a source of wisdom, what I said had nothing to do with politics. This is yet another example of McCain and Palin distorting the truth, and all the more reason to remember that this campaign is not about gender, it is about which candidate has an agenda that will improve the lives of all Americans, including women. The truth is, if you care about the status of women in our society and in our troubled economy, the best choice by far is Obama-Biden."
Rock on, Madeline!

I don't fault Sarah Palin for misquoting a Starbucks cup. I do fault her, however, for taking it out of context and using it in such a manner.

I wonder if Sarah really believes that taking the choice whether to have an abortion away is supporting another woman.

She was doin’ OK until, there they went (the media) filterin’ again.

I don’t know what “Joe Sixpack” drinks, but I tried a 12-pack and I still ain’t dumbed down enough to accept her crap, but I did come close to “drinking her pretty”.

P.S. That last part worked for Biden too!!! ohmy.gif tongue.gif
