The Republicans are putting up a person so utterly unqualified that they won't allow her to be questioned by ordinary reporters in real time.
This is a two-fer for the McCain campaign. It allows Palin to continue to tell lies in front of safe crowds, continue her attack-dog routine, while at the same time allows them to disguise how utterly unprepared and incapable she is. If she can't function among a group of questioners, she cannot function on a world stage.
What do we have to look forward to?
My Dad used to say that a gun is a great equalizer. He also said, that that was the one big reason that a gun can be used too carelessly and too easily by weak beings.
If Palin can't take questions from ordinary citizens or reporters, how will she be able to face Putin or some disagreeable lesser leader?
If she can't talk, if she doesn't want to be questioned, just like George Bush, will she instead lightly and easily threaten the use of America's military?
The song "That was the night when the lights went out in Georgia," contains a line that I always understood to be: "a metal no-answer man, made in the form of a gun."
A gun is a "metal no-answer man." It's a nice feeling for weak people who don't want to be questioned. If you can't answer "man," then you turn to your gun, or your fist, as the first resort.
If you don't want to be questioned, if you will not tolerate disagreement, you will not participate in diplomacy, you will turn to your military as a first resort.
We are in great danger as a nation already, having been put there by a weak character as president, and an evil vice president. We are danger still, even much greater, if McCain-Palin get elected.
