Am I the Odd one in the world or do more than just me expect people running for high office in My Country to sound intelligent and actually show a proficiency for The Language of My Country?

Is there something wrong with sounding intelligent and articulated?

I know that she was trying (way too hard) to sound like an average mom. BUT, I have a problem with that. I don't want an AVERAGE mom potentially running My Country. I want ABOVE AVERAGE at least. Hopefully even SPECTACULAR or even THE BEST. AVERAGE is way down on my list for people in high office in My Country.

I want.... nope, DEMAND to have the BEST person in High Office in My Country.

I don't want someone who I have to worry about saying:

"Well gosh darn it Mr. Medvedev"

"We know you are hiding those doggone nukular weapons Mr. Ahmadinejad and you betcha were gonna find dem suckers"

when it comes to the white house, the only people i want to say phrases like You Betcha, Doncha know, Doggone it, dem-dare, and others are tourists that are just passing through.

Our competitors around the globe wouldn't be so stupid to put unqualified unintelligent people anywhere near their positions of leadership.

The stakes are too high. This is no time to "play" president. We need real serious leaders.

Why are we even discussing this. This is so absurd. This whole thing.

I hear you, but I'm hardly riled up as much.

Let us view the idiots as they are!

For a women to reach where she is in life and turn it cheap by selling sexual suggestions in a vice presidential debate... come on. That was pretty damn sad.

Actually the way McBush has been looking at her butt, that's what he's thinking. So are all the men that support her. It's VPILF.

Put it this way, were it my mother up on stage doing that... I would not be amused. I would not be proud. I'd hide, hell, I'd probably run away from home.

the talk heads seem to simply accept that she...did well...because she was there.

I like the reply from on the women that I think NBC rounded up to do a review of the debate 'I look forward to the time when a man can debate a woman and not even think about being called a bully best verbal shots back and forth.' If you check her Alaska debates this what she's good at broad generalities when she has a clue and change the subject when she's on shaky ground-very common in both small town and high school/college politics.

Exactly!!! She didn't wet her pants, which has to be good for something. I wonder if the RNC knows how many women are turned off by Sarah Palin. Do most women strive to be goofy hicks? I seriously doubt it! A very small segment of our society is enamoured of people who seem to be only a title removed from trailer trash.
Put a crown on their heads, or give them the keys to the city, or make them president of the PTA anywhere else but in BFE, and they're not going to draw flies. Women haven't worked this long and hard for equality to have some bimbo vaulted into a role which rightfully belongs to a person with education and class.
Elite? You don't like elite? You'd rather have Homer Simpson as president and Marge as VP because they're just like you and they make you laugh?
I wouldn't have anything to do with a person like Sarah Palin. I truly consider her beneath me in education, upbringing, elocution, and as a mother. She wouldn't be my friend if she lived next door. Why would I dream of voting for her as Vice President of the United States of America?
Her pitiful performance in the debate, with all the winking, grinning, and playing to the camera, while totally failing to say anything meaningful, simply served to seal her doom among all the women of my acquaintance. This Howdy-Doody girl is not what women want....

You forgot 'Golly Gosh'. This all comes from the Donald Rumsfeld 'How to Bull**** the American People' dictionary.

How many people remember this?

George W. Bush came to Washington as an, 'outsider' and, "the guy you'd like to have a beer with."

And how did THAT work out for America?

I do prefer ordinary citizens being elected to public office but I don't think Gov. Palin has the temperament, judgment or experience to be VPOTUS and potential POTUS.

I've come to the conclusion that the real villains and culprits of the last 20yrs of elections is main stream media and main stream propaganda. IMO, it's gotten very ridiculous. To the person they all discuss the VP debate in terms of looks, sound bites and personality instead of analyzing the stated policy issues and the impact of the stated policy on USA and "US" Citizens.

Main stream media is comprised idiots, they seem incapable of discerning public policy, the affect of public policy on US Citizens and explaining those policies in detail to "US" Citizens. Every one who watched the VP debate can make up their own opinion of how the candidates looked and sounded but no one in the media is explaining Sen. McShame's policies or Sen. Obama's policies and the impact of those policies.

I'd like to say the NewsHour is different but they only present 2 sides of the days top crises, rarely explaining in detail the impact of proposed legislation, proposed policy, pending court cases. Even the Lou Dobbs Show which use to be very good investigative reporting on government agencies and policy has slunk to biased political rhetoric.

Try Bill Moyers Journal. I found last night's show very informative. Much more so than the M$M.
QUOTE
BILL MOYERS: On Monday, the people rose up and Congress backed down, sending the bailout to defeat. But then the lobbyists rushed in with a brinks truck of bribes, and this afternoon Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson got $700 billion dollars to save the system that his crowd on Wall Street had exploited to enrich themselves while plunging the country to the edge of catastrophe.

The bailout offers almost no help for homeowners, or equity for taxpayers in banks that are being thrown a lifeline...it turns our Secretary of the Treasury into Caesar Augustus and plunders democracy with tax breaks for Hollywood studios, Samoan sweat shops, Alaskan fishermen, rum merchants, makers of toy arrows and giveaways to big oil. All this on the very day the government reports that another 160,000 people lost their jobs last month — that's the most in five and a half years.

No wonder that Congress today resembled Monty Python's ministry of silly walks — one palm open to the lobbyists, the other holding their nose against the stinking odor of a bill everyone said they didn't want — while rushing for the airport to go home and tell the voters how important it is for them to be re-elected — so they can come back and clean up the mess they just made.

Here for a post mortem is Emma Coleman Jordan. She teaches commercial law and economic justice at Georgetown University. She's a former White House Fellow and assistant to the Attorney General, and has served as president of both The Association of American Law Schools and the Society of American Law Teachers. One of her latest books is "Economic Justice: Race, Gender, Identity and Economics." She's now editing a book to be published early next year, called "The Short End of the Stick."

After the election is over maybe Sarah Palin can get a bit part on "My Name Is Earl".
She'd make the perfect BFF for Jaime Pressley's character.

I appreciate that a few of the PBS, Current, CSPAN and Link TV shows like Moyers, POV, Now! are investigative journalism but they're not shown on main stream media. Current, CSPAN and Link are on cable but not even the 24x7 cable shows play those investigative reports. MSNBC does "Predator" and behind bars stories instead of investigative journalism behind Congressional doors, and MSNBC thinks its "the place for poliitcs"? At least CNN does a few investigative reports usually shown on Sundays and non-primetime.

Main stream media (radio, TV, print) rarely review in detail for the public a candidates policy, bit of legislation or budgetary allocation and the impact of that policy on US Citizens before that policy is implemented. IMHO, if main stream media investigated and informed the public of the details and projected policy impact to US Citizens the minutiae commentary will stop.

Bread and circuses, what more should one expect from Corporate media? Unless serious action is taken (ala Mountain Bell), the media in this country is dead. Right now it mainly reminds me of an infomercial.

You are so right.

His A More Perfect Union Speech, which he wrote the night before delivering it, is barely understandable. Clear he has no understanding of the English.
