Web Site Calls Obama Pro-Life

by Jennifer Mesko, editor

'It's an insult and affront to every true pro-lifer in the country.'

A new Web site claims that, if elected president, Sen. Barack Obama would "drastically reduce abortion" and "promote life with dignity for all from the beginning of life to the end."

Prolifeproobama.com is the brainchild of the Matthew 25 Network — the same group that created a radio ad this summer attacking Dr. James Dobson.

"The Matthew 25 Web page is a desperate attempt to attract pro-life Christian voters to Obama by misrepresenting and redefining the pro-life cause," said Carrie Gordon Earll, senior bioethics analyst at Focus on the Family Action. "It's an insult and affront to every true pro-lifer in the country."

The site claims Obama will reduce abortion by "giving women and families the support and the tools they need to choose life."

Perhaps Obama should consider supporting Focus on the Family's Option Ultrasound Program, which has issued 405 grants for ultrasound machines and sonography training since 2004. Tens of thousands of preborn babies have been saved, thanks to the millions of dollars that are donated to Focus each year for pro-life efforts.

Obama has received a 100 percent pro-abortion rating from Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America. His rating from the National Right to Life Committee? Zero.

Heartbreaking. It's almost as if you can't trust the internet. rolleyes.gif

I am also pro-choice and have worked for years to REDUCE the number of abortions performed in this country.
By working to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies.
(through comprehensive sex education and making birth control widely available)

Oh come on Mac we all know the only thing that really works is constantly jumping out from behind things with a bucket of ice water and yelling STOP THAT OR BURN IN HELL FOREVER!! On an even less serious note as a child I could not figure out why I was in a Baptist church Wednesday, night and Sunday morning. In my teen years the light went on: Wednesday it was "lord please give me the strength to be good and resist the temptations of the weekend, let me say no to strong drink, and fast women." Then Sunday morning it was "well Lord I blew it again".

No doubt about it! That's gotta be the plan. But, no matter what you did, you were saved - right? You were baptized in the waters of forgiveness. Once baptized, all you have to do is say the obligatory "Sorry" and go back to whatever it was you were previously doing. There's always another opportunity to say your mea culpa.
I don't know one person who is in favor of pro-choice who is in favor of abortion. I'm vehemently pro-choice, but I personally would have to think long and hard about abortion as the solution to an unwanted pregnancy in a marriage or committed relationship. Abortion is not birth control. Birth control is birth control.
I do, however, wholeheartedly support contraception and certainly, I support the "morning-after pill" for victims of rape. When we speak of girls impregnated as the result of incest, that may not be reported immediately, and only discovered when the victim shows signs of pregnancy, it's a rough row to hoe in some communities.
I tried to work, for a time, as a teacher of ESL. During the course of this effort, I met several girls ranging in age from 14 to 16 who were pregnant by their father's best friend, or their uncle, or their brother's best friend, and even their brother. There was no way I could talk to them about birth control or abortion; that wasn't my job. I could report it, which I did, but the families of the girls involved would never have considered abortion, or even the use of contraceptives.
I'm reminded of the recently apprehended "Preacher" Alamo, who said that "consent is puberty."
Is that where we are? Do we care so little about our girl children? Are they fair game upon reaching puberty? No reasonable parent goes along with this.....

A poignant childhood memory!
2 of the neighbor's dogs locked in the act & couldn't get unstuck.

So they neighbors were chasing the locked dogs with the garden hose & buckets of water.

That's why "abstinence only" people carry a spare water bottle.
Never know when the urge might strike.

I'm a pro-life Democrat and I applaud his efforts. It is exactly what is needed.

I am a pro-life Catholic who supports Obama. I also happen to think Roe v Wade should not be overturned because I believe that making abortion illegal will have little or no effect in reducing abortions. I believe the only way to effectively reduce the tragedy of abortion is by making it unnecessary; that by improving education (including sex education and parenting education), health care and job opportunity and yes, by providing welfare when needed.

The only desperation I see here is on the right, who can see the landslide coming to bury them into oblivion.

Aloha.

PS:

- What do you call teens who practice "abstinence only" birth control?

- "Parents"

There will be abortions regardless of the law. Rich women will travel where ever they need to go to obtain a safe one. Poor women will literally kill themselves with home remedies or dirty, back alley "providers" of all stripes. Abortionists will pop up on the underground like mushrooms. But they won't be doctors. Ask any OB/GYN what types of cases they're aware of. The stories are heartbreaking.

As long as pro-life conservatives are pro-war...
I just can't take their arguments seriously.

It's hypocritical.
As long as pro life conservaties are pro-death penalty
I can't take them seriously

What's even worse is a pro-life Conservative who cuts food bank budgets in half and who does other things that do not help people who are trying to live and trying to help their children live.

As far as I am concerned there are very few religions that can claim to be pro-life.

Quakers and Jehovah's Witnesses who ended up doing a lot of work for this country when they were Conscientious Objectors.

Expecting teenagers NOT to have sex is like putting up a fire plug and expecting dogs to not piss on it.

There's no such thing as "pro-abortion".
