This news does nothing to change my opinion of Aiken. I still won't buy his albums!
I loathed his "music" just as much I thought he was straight. He is no Rob Halford, Freddy Mercury or Elton John. Not even close...
The really sad thing about Aiken's utterly disposable pop are the young females who now hate Aiken because he came out. I was listening to quotes on a local radio show yesterday, and these girls were acting like he was a boyfriend who cheated on them! Good grief, how can they be so shallow? It's not like they knew him personally. Aiken's songs are like 99 cent hamburgers from McDonalds... impersonal bits of plastic created by someone else and served up by a "singer" who is nothing more than the last guy on the assembly line. It wouldn't have made any difference if another teenybopper had sung them. Top 40 has been little more than interchangeable pap since about 1989 or so... computerized, densensitized and changed so very little over the past 2 decades. Aiken's genre is so boring that it's not even fun to dance with the songs.
Having said that, good for Aiken on coming out. Despite what I think of his (lack of) artistry, I wish him well.
