Via TV Newser:

With two weeks under her TV belt, Rachel Maddow has become a bonafide hit for MSNBC. Last week the program was #2 in cable news in both the A25-54 demo and in Total Viewers at 9pmET, beating CNN's Larry King Live. FNC's Hannity & Colmes was the top-rated broadcast at 9pmET. On Friday, Maddow's was the #1 show in the demo at 9pmET topping a Hannity-less H&C.

Last Tuesday and Thursday, Maddow's program was the #1 show on MSNBC.

In the two weeks since Maddow took over the 9pmET slot, the program's nine shows have averaged 556,000 demo viewers and 1.6M Total Viewers. Maddow's averages are more than double the final two weeks (eight shows) of Verdict with Dan Abrams (225,000 demo / 601,000 Total Viewers.)

I've been a Maddow fan since she debuted on Air America's launch.

These are UNREAL ratings for a new show on a network that isn't number one in the genre.

Righties beware: She's non-combative, smart, and fun. She's the future of lefty political talk. EVERYONE on the right better watch out.

Rachel Maddow can go toe-to-toe with any righty talking head. She is the real deal.

The funny part is, there is an old sound bite out there of Limboggghhhhh wondering out loud if anyone "has anyone ever heard of Rachel Maddow." He was already worried back then.

As the Nielsen data from Tuesday shows, Countdown clocked 1.635m viewers (and 509k in the 25-54 demo), while The Rachel Maddow Show built on that for a total of 1.801m viewers (and 534k in the demo).

Bravo Rachel! clap.gif clap.gif clap.gif clap.gif

Rachel is brilliant but does not talk down to anybody like so many other pundits. Giving Rachel her own program was the single most intelligent thing that MSNBC has ever done!

Its a plus for anyone who can think beyond an opening sentence.
She really brings some depth of analysis!

My favorite 2 hours of TV have become Countdown & Rachel in this runup to the election.
The rest has been the same old reruns.

Unfortunately the only righties she can get on her show is her fellow MSNBC buddy Pat Buchanan. She has mentioning in her latest shows that she is inviting prominent Republicans on and they won't come on, then she shows a list of those that are invited.

We all know why: THEY ARE COWARDS!

I listen to her on air america, nt as good as Ed, but she definately has a face for radio...eventhough it looks like they cake the make-up on her for her tv show, I doubt if I'll watch it, other than in passing if I'm stuck somewhere and I'm bored. I've basically completely given up on the Corporate media, and I'm sure she will sell out just like all the rest--its just a matter of time.

Saying you've got great ratings on MSNBC is like being a piano player in a marching band. People dropped by to see what all the hoopla was about and then they'll return to their regularly scheduled programming a month later. Quote me ratings six months from now when it means something.

Everyone thinks their team has a shot at the World Series on opening day. rofl.gif

She isn't a sell out. She many times reruns her television show on her radio show, so you've all ready heard what she's doing on television by listening to the radio.
