Didn't need a "surge". The only reason it worked is that we are bribing (with billions of tax dollars) the militias not to attack us. Didn't need a "surge" for that.
If they decide to stop taking the bribes, and declare war again, the surge will be for naught.
It's time to come home. We've already lost the oil, they signed a contract with the Chinese. Not ONE MORE SOLDIER should die for this stupid war.

Well, I didn't watch. PornKing Shrillo Brillo isn't on my usual fare.
The problem is that the interview probably won't appear anywhere un-excerpted.
And the blowhard O'LIE-ly will be rocking in joy over how wonderful he, himself is.
The idea that the blowhard tried to talk over him, instead of let him speak is telling. And expected.
Only Rove speaks in full sentences without shrillo brillo opining.
He had his chance for full answers. Maybe he should have shut up & let full policies come forth!

The surge... is done. Right?
So whether it worked just a little bit as part of the package, or whether it was the bribes,
tomorrow is a new day.
We don't have a great way to assess that "surge" beyond immediate numbers. It may just have pushed
insurgents into Pakistan & Afghanistan like squeezing a balloon.
But it may allow other factions to take a foothold in Iraq.
It just doesn't necessarily change the overall picture. Its not time to assess longterm effects yet.
But maybe it IS time to assess whether getting out is NOW.
We shouldn't wait 10 or 100 years to see if we are wasting our time & money in retrospect.
They do NOT get credit for a surge that was very late in the process. They screwed up to begin with & ignored all the discussions of what to do. "Surging" was an act of desperation. It wasn't anything Bush, OR McCain can claim
as a great plan --- to do what maybe should have been done earlier in this farce.
Putting masking tape on the lamp you broke, doesn't change the break.
