QUOTE
With rare exception, nearly all of the top commentators and reporters on the three cable news networks had hailed Obama's speech as something new and powerful, and filled with specifics, and predicted it would have a positive effect on his chances vs. John McCain. This hallelujah chorus included conservatives such as Bill Kristol and Pat Buchanan and the longtime Republican David Gergen, as well as Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams. Buchanan called it the best and most important political convention speech he had ever heard, going back 48 years.

So Olbermann was outraged that the AP's Babington had written, in his analysis of the speech, just off the wire, that Obama had tried nothing new and that his speech was lacking in specifics.

I think Babington and AP just qualified themselves for "worst person in the world".

Olberman consistantly brings his ultra liberal bias to his newscasts....some far-lefties love it....most mainstream folks get their news elsewhere.

Olbermann is quickly wearing out his welcome...just as he has everywhere else he's been employed.

Ok so the protesters gave voice to what millions (not sayin how many millions) of Americans think. What is driving me nuts how hatd folks fight to portray anone who disagrees (like the 70% of americans wh favor health care for all) as some sprt of left wing nut while driving the debatge further from the center-stop moving the goal posts. Lets get to back to a time whne a Bill Clinton would have for Governor of OR or WA as a Republican because there was such a thing as a liberal republican. Oh yeah and if they chose NOT to talk to Fool they hated freedom of speech lose lose argument eh?

Pat Buchanan said it was the greatest speech he's ever heard.

Greg Mitchell (gmitchell@editorandpublisher.com) is editor. He has written nine books on politics and history including his latest on Iraq and the media, "So Wrong for So Long."

So this is another guy bringing out the old saw about the "librul media". His op-ed, by the way, being carried by AP, one of the most powerful mainstream media services, was, one suspects, mostly written long before Obama's speech.

Greg Mitchell is a good guy at Editor & Publisher. He's one of the only journalists I know of who has compiled suicides of returning Iraqi vets and other related stories that are just not found anywhere else except for McClatchy.
