This all depends do you want "straight talk" or do you want honest answers? I don't have time for honest answers and don't like the rights idea of "straight talk" because life is not a yes or no answer.

Here are my quick answers.

Do you believe in limited Government? How limited? The government is there for a reason, that reason has been bastarized IMO over the last 7 1/2 years.

Do you feel that our way of life is the best in the world? No, things can always be better.

Do you think we have the greatest healthcare in the world? (NOT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, BUT HEALTHCARE) NO, what good is great healthcare when only certain people have access to it.

Is the Government taking away your freedoms? Yes

Do you trust the Government to handle your healthcare fund without bankrupting it? I'd like to but not this current administration.

Do you trust the Government? Not at the moment.

Do you feel that mediocrity is something to be celebrated? Republicans sure do they keep electing it. I however do not.

Should there be winners and loosers? Aren't their already winners and losers? pointless question.

Is it unfair that some people are better at certain things then others? No but it is unfair when those who are better take advantage of those who aren't.

Do you like the olympics? Why do you care?

I can try but I'm probably not that far left...

I believe in limited government but probably not in the way neocons do. I'm more of a Teddy Roosevelt or Dwight Eisenhower guy.

Is our way of life the best in the world? In some respects, yes. In some respects, no. The founding fathers sketched out a dream that we've lost the past 30 years or so.

We have the best health care in the world. If you have access to it. Set up a healthcare system where members of congress, the supreme court and the executive branch have the same healthcare as the poorest American and you'd see some major improvements. Muy Pronto!

Is the government taking away my freedoms? Perhaps not now but if the president can pretty much do as he pleases and claim executive privilege to prevent congress from doing their constitutionally mandated oversight the door has been opened for someone to do so in the future.

Do you trust the Government to handle your healthcare fund without bankrupting it? I sure as hell don't trust the HMOs to handle my healthcare fund without bankrupting us. Remember, the HMOs are working to keep profits up and the stock price high. Health care is of secondary importance. With that in mind, why would you trust them?

Do you trust the Government? Hell no. I grew up on a dairy farm and my parents - one republican and one democrat - taught me that the government was out to steal as much money from us as they could get. Four years in the military during Vietnam did little to change my outlook. Voodoo economics - a term coined by a republican - has only served to prove they were right.

Mediocrity...Hmmmm... To paraphrase Catch 22: "Some people are born mediocre, some achieve mediocrity and some have mediocrity thrust upon them. With George W. Bush, it was all three." There will always be mediocre people, it's just that if you win the reproduction lottery it isn't a problem. Then you get a lifetime of food stamps for zero work, other people fight your wars for you, you don't have to pay for the wars and, best of all, you get to profit from them! Freedom is free!

Of course there should be winners and losers! If you have skills and intelligence, you should win. If you don't, you should lose. I don't believe in a hereditary aristocracy such as we're developing - back to Teddy Roosevelt, a strong supporter of the inheritance tax.

Some people are better at some things than other folks are. I was lousy at farming. But I was great with computers, worked on AWACS R&D just before getting discharged in '73, went to public school on the GI bill and make a nice living because of the American taxpayer. Now I'm a highly respected and well-paid engineer in my field. I owe this country a debt I'm glad to repay with taxes so today's veterans can have the same opportunities I was given. Freedom means allowing the best to rise and the worst to fall. Does our society still allow that? If not, is it still free?

I can give you some links from military sources that pretty much destroy McCain's claim of having better judgement than Barack. Basically, if you follow the writing of our experts on strategy, McCain isn't all that sharp while Barack's policies, although they do need some work, are far better aligned with high-level strategic theory.

I numbered them for you...much more practical. Also, many of these questions are a tad too complex for a simple yes/no answer, don't you think? Take #1, for instance, and yes, I want the gov't limited when it comes to reading my emails, but I don't want it limited when it comes to providing healthcare benefits for all Americans...

So here it goes:

1.Yes/No-- (see above)
2.No-- the question is ridiculous; what works for some might not work for others, there are drawbacks to all societies etc.
3.No!
4.Yes in some cases, no in others...I really appreciate having my roads kept up even though road repair can lead to traffic jams for one.
5.Yes, since just about every other gov't in the developed world has managed to provide health care for its citizens...are we more incompetent than they are?
6.Yes/No--the gov't is not something that exists outside of time and society. Give me a decade!
7.No!!
8.Obviously yes
9.No
10.Sometimes...

What do your questions have to do with Obama????
What does
Do you like the olympics? Have to with Obama?
Come back when you can a least get this thread to high school.

See pointing to something you disagree with while disregarding the issue. The Olympics question is there to guage how effective your answers actually are. but to review your answers lets go through them.

here are my questions...Your answers will be put in between them and I shall review.

Do you believe in limited Government?
yes
Good there is hope for you yet, now tell me how socialized medecine rates in this view?

Do you feel that our way of life is the best in the world?
yes
See another spot on answer. But ike some have said things could be ALOT better, atleast I think they could be better.

Do you think we have the greatest healthcare in the world? (NOT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, BUT HEALTHCARE)
no
I wonder are you focusing on the system or the care?

Is the Government taking away your freedoms?
yes
I agree, I feel that there are alot of things we are loosing in the name of security and they should be taken back.

Do you trust the Government to handle your healthcare fund without bankrupting it?
no
Then why exactly do you feel that healthcare should be given to everyone? Won't that be giving the Government MORE power? Won't that be bankrupting the U.S.?

Do you trust the Government?
no
Another good answer.

Do you feel that mediocrity is something to be celebrated?
yes
Really? so then the Olympics is a sham to you? they are all GREAT athletes, are you saying that everyone should get a medal? The loosing team should get trophies simply because they lost? Second and third places are 1 thing, BUT when you give medals to everyone who attended then what does the medal for first mean? does it have a meaning?

Should there be winners and loosers?
no
Again why do you think that? So last year when the Giants won the Superbowl, every NFL team should have won the Superbowl? Don't you think that is flawed?

Is it unfair that some people are better at certain things then others?
yes
So because I can look at a rock face and see the lines in the rock that delineate a fault line its unfair? Because I can look at a rock and tell IF it is a metamorphic rock, a granatic rock, or sedimentary rock that is unfair? I studied damned hard to learn the thing I know, I think its unfair of you to feel that way and it belies a greed and need of someone to hold your hand and tell yuo everything will be OK.

Do you like the olympics?
You decided to ignore this question because you did not see the merit of the point of the thread. The whole point of the thread is to guage how much of a socialist you actually are. Or in your case a communist.

Lets celebrate mediocrity, lets have everyone be winners, Get over your self and wake up. You are exactly the type of person who needs to step back and look at your life.

And before you decide to try and BASH the ever living poop out of me, here are a few FACTS about me before you start.
I am a 32 YO Disabled Veteran. I have 2 wonderful children that I will teach to NEVER SETTLE for what you have and STRIVE TO BE BETTER. I believe in gay rights, and a womans right to choose for herself. I feel the Government should not rule my life or anyone elses. I am a democrat who voted for both Gore, and Kerry, will prolly vote for Obama, eventhough Guiliani was and still is my first choice. I have served my country with honors and would still do the same today.

#2 What country has the best way of life and would you rather live there (if your answer is not America)?
#3 to the best of your ability, what country has the best heathcare. Where would you go if you were ill?
#7 should we reward success?
#11 Should there be equality across the board? With opportunity and results?

1. Do you believe in limited Government?
Depends on your definition of "limited" is, and who's voice gets limited..

2. Do you feel that our way of life is the best in the world?
It could be better.

3. Do you think we have the greatest healthcare in the world? (NOT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, BUT HEALTHCARE)
No, because the "health care" in the United States is handcuffed by the the Insurance Companies and Hospital CEO's.

4. Is the Government taking away your freedoms?
No, but then I have observed the federal bureaucracies within the government have not been friendly.

5. Do you trust the Government to handle your healthcare fund without bankrupting it?
Yes, depending on who is controlling it... Definitely not if it is a Republican like
Thomas Noe!

6. Do you trust the Government?
Yes, as long as the Constitution of the United States lives and breaths.

7. Do you feel that mediocrity is something to be celebrated?
What's that all about?... Celebrate... just because... tongue.gif

8. Should there be winners and losers?
Cheaters don't win in my book.

9. Is it unfair that some people are better at certain things than others?
No, but life is never fair.

10. Do you like the olympics?
I could care about it being full of "gestures of a peaceful competition" but I don't dwell on it personally.

I asked a set of question that were designed to give me an understanding of how people react to pressure, and to also make it clear that while we don't like the Government interfering in our lives we will gladly set aside that belief for the glimmer of hope that socialized medicine seems to be giving us.

I pose this question to you Jane, You said (and I quote)

3. Do you think we have the greatest healthcare in the world? (NOT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, BUT HEALTHCARE)
No. It's abysmal.

Now your answer to question 3, you say our healthcare is Abysmal, are you refering to the system or the actual care one recieves? I absolutely agree that the system is flawed, but the level of care is impeccable and absolutely the greatest. Have you personally recieved ABYSMAL heathcare?

The other day while I was volunteering I saw something that made me want to quit, they were having a mock olympics and because 1 little boy had already won a trophy he was not able to win again. whats the point of having a mock olympics IF we aren't going to celebrate the kids who are better at 1 thing or another?? Well, then just start a topic thread about that topic. If you're interested in a discussion of such events, then do that. Posing them (especially 7, 8, and 9 ... especially 7) as simplistic yes/no questions is a waste of time. They are, at best, tangentially related to issues of government and your stated challenge to be "sold" on Senator Obama.

If dares are being thrown around, I guess I'll dare you to come up with a more coherent poll and questions that are about what you're purportedly interested in.

1. You can't argue limited government with a conservative because they want limited government for the people but not by the corporation.
2. There are good things about our way of life and there are negative things. Nothing is all good, unless you're 2 yrs old.
3. We have poor health care. Just because you pay more does not mean it's better. I'm a nurse, I've seen far too much from the inside.
4. GWB gutted the Constitution, nothing is sacred anymore.
5. I have no clue what you are referring to.
6. What does "trust the Government" mean? I don't trust partisan, political hacks in charge of government agencies.
7. No.
8. Life is more than black and white.
9. No.
10. I qualified for the Olympics in the Women's Decathlon for the '68 games in Mexico City.
lilaHusseinland
So sell me Obama, AND please answer these questions for me IF you're able.

I'm not here to sell. But I'll play.

1. Do you believe in limited Government?

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
- Dwight D. Eisenhower

I believe in limited military-industrial complex influence in our government like real republicans.

I also believe in an increased social service by our government like health care.

2. Do you feel that our way of life is the best in the world?

In many ways, but America could always improve.

http://www.aftenposten.no/english/local/article828724.ece

that is from 2004. Norway was also ranked best in 2006, 2006, and 2007. They might be on to something.

3. Do you think we have the greatest healthcare in the world? (NOT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, BUT HEALTHCARE)

We sure do not.

http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html

4. Is the Government taking away your freedoms?

Ask the people, by no fault of their own, who share a name with someone on the Federal Watch Lists.

5. Do you trust the Government to handle your healthcare fund without bankrupting it?

I think it will take them 50 years to get it right. It would be a huge under taking and would have many set backs for awhile. We would need help setting it up from other successful industrialized nation's blueprints.

6. Do you trust the Government?

Not for the last 7.5 years.

7. Do you feel that mediocrity is something to be celebrated?

No, that's why Bush and Mccain both suck.

8. Should there be winners and losers?

There always are. We should give door ways of opportunity to brilliant minds that are born into life circumstances that would otherwise drown out their chances for entering the race. that way America wins because all the 'best' of her children have a way to help us evolve and compete as a nation in this new global world.

9. Is it unfair that some people are better at certain things than others?

no.

10. Do you like the olympics?

sure.

IF you are willing to answer any of these questions please do.

It appears that you think you can dictate the terms, calling other people "snarky." NOW AREN'T some of you responses quite similar!

You haven't tied this to Obama. So why was he invoked?

Do you think you've made a point in this?

Can I add to some of your questions?

#2 What country has the best way of life and would you rather live there (if your answer is not America)?
#3 to the best of your ability, what country has the best heathcare. Where would you go if you were ill?
#7 should we reward success?
#11 Should there be equality across the board? With opportunity and results?

#2 should be modified to ask: should we stop trying to make America better?
#3 should be modified in the same vein.
#4 should we stop rewarding mediocrity and failure.
#11 should all citizens of a democracy have equal opportunity to make the best of their individual gifts?

Now they're better questions....

Why are they hard questions? They seem fairly simple to alot of the other posters. they are simple questions.
Do you feel that mediocrity should be celebrated?
Should there be winners and losers?
Is it unfair that some people are better at certain things than others?

As far as what I am after, I am getting it. People have come here and honestly answered questions. They are giving me an honest oppinion regarding their feelings regarding certain subjects.

I do have a question specifically for you though, Do we deserve the ire and hatred given to us by most of the middle eastern countries and terrorist groups?

It depends on why you think the ire and hatred comes from. If you believe the administration rhetoric that they "hate us because of our freedoms" I suppose it could be confusing.

Now it's my turn: Why, in your words, do many people in middle eastern countries hate us?

Yes, but in a limited sense.

2. Do you feel that our way of life is the best in the world?

Hmmm ... this often includes the choice of a religious perspective. If that is your intent, I decline to answer.

3. Do you think we have the greatest healthcare in the world? (NOT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, BUT HEALTHCARE)

No, based on personal experience.

4. Is the Government taking away your freedoms?

Perhaps, how much do we really know at this point?

5. Do you trust the Government to handle your healthcare fund without bankrupting it?

Yes, in general. No, if you are talking about the current administration.

6. Do you trust the Government?

No, not the current administration.

7. Do you feel that mediocrity is something to be celebrated?

No, of course not (see question on healthcare!).

8. Should there be winners and losers?

No, not if you are talking about human rights.

9. Is it unfair that some people are better at certain things than others?

No, again (see healthcare).

10. Do you like the olympics?

Yes, if you are talking about the competition. No, if you include the scandals and the politics.

the questions require to much comment to be answered yes or no I think in general we all want the same thing a gov't that works for the people and offers opportunity to all. a more controlled gov't that does not answer only to the biggest donor but one that responds to the needs of the country and its general prosperity of its people.

so lets just sell you Obama it should be easier.

SCOTUS for one regardless of party we must keep it balanced the next term will be replacing at least 2 in my opinion the last 2 were very obvious corporate favorites and will not rule for the people but for the corporitst interest

Obama listens during the recent meeting with economic bigshots (buffet reich etc...) they all reported he listened well. that is what impressed them and if these guys are impressed then so am I.

Obama will not be able to acheive a lot of things that the far left think he will. "Conditions on the ground" as they say will prevent him from moving to far to fast.

Obama will lift our spirits. Perhaps not the most tangible attribute but none the less through out history the greatest leaders had that capacity

Obama will help race relations something no president has really ever had an opportunity to do
(I see his wife playing a big role there)

Obama has shown the ability to adapt and change as needed (ie drilling) he is enough of a realist to know that we can do alot of talking about alternatives but we still need to be able to keep the machine going until we are ready to change gears.

And as punishment for the republican parties failure to control gov't and prosecute the war effectively.

yes retribution must be a part if we do not penalize them they will think life is wonderful, it took the 2006 elections to remove rumsfeld bush should have removed him because he was failing. but it took the weight of the people to show him the error of his way

voting is our time to prove that they are obedient to the peoples will. We cannot let them get away with failure without punishment. or as bush says we all is fools

I have nothing against Mccain but his timing is wrong . He should have beat Bush in 2000 but he too suffered at hand of bush corp.

I think Obama will probably have Mccain rewrite immigration in a bipartisan effort

Mccain is one of our senior fellows he needs to be respected and admired for his service to our country

But Obama must win this november we have to change direction even if it is only a slight turn

BRAVO!!!!!!..... biggrin.gif

Here are a few questions for all you lefties out there. None of these questions bave anything to do with Barack Obama, but I will answer them truthfully.

I know most of you won't answer but its worth a try......

So sell me Obama, AND please answer these questions for me IF you're able.

1. Do you believe in limited Government? I believe that government is here to provide some basic services for its citiizens. I believe that the Reppublican administrations over the last several decades have been responsible for adding many governmental bureaucracies and have made many government departments unwieldly and topheavy. A thorough cleanup and combining of governmental functions shouldb e undertaken.
2. Do you feel that our way of life is the best in the world? This is a subjective question and cannot be answered with a simple yes or not. Our way of life provides many perks and is certainly desireable. However, many native peoples around the world are just as happy to be living the lives that they have traditionally lived for centuries. We should not mess with their lifestyles. Likewise, many nation's populations are just as happy as we are even though they live under a variety of governmental systems. We have no business meddling in their affairs either.
3. Do you think we have the greatest healthcare in the world? (NOT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, BUT HEALTHCARE) Since you qualified this question as applying to healthcare and not the system, I will have to answer that we do have healthcare, but not necessarily the best in the world. For instance, Taiwan developed LASIK surgery and had many practitioners operating in malls before this procedure was introduced in this country. I am sure there are other examples of this type of occurrence as well.
4. Is the Government taking away your freedoms? By the very nature of government, some "freedoms" are curtailed in order to assure the greatest freedom for the greatest number of people. I think that we are all very glad that nobody has the freedom to murder or rape anyone they choose. Sometimes taking away freedoms is a good thing!
5. Do you trust the Government to handle your healthcare fund without bankrupting it? The government has done very well with the Social Security system in the past. With proper safeguards, they will do just fine in the future. With proper safeguards, the government could satisfactorily handle an overall healthcare fund, although nobody has proposed a full nationalization of healthcare funding at this point.
6. Do you trust the Government? Since living through the Nixon administration, I would have to say overall that I do not trust the government.
7. Do you feel that mediocrity is something to be celebrated?
8. Should there be winners and losers? There will always be winners and losers. That is the nature of human existence and the very nature of life on our planet. I do not see how we can change that.
9. Is it unfair that some people are better at certain things than others? Again, that is just the way it is. Individuals are born with aptitudes in certain areas and not in others. Their upbringing and environment during their formative years also plays a part. There is no way to make all people equal in all areas so this is a meaningless question.
10. Do you like the olympics? The Olympics provide a fine experience for those who participate in them. They also provide an opportunity for all who view them to realize that there are really not so many differences between peoples. Overall, the Olympics are a worthwhile endeavor and I enjoy viewing the competitions.

IF you are willing to answer any of these questions please do. Again, these are basically meaningless questions as far as one candidate or another goes.
Linda_Hussein_Paloma
1. Do you believe in limited Government?

Yes...
that is why there are three separate branches, to oversee each other.
Something is wrong with the system right now tho because Bushco should be in jail for everything that they have done. Corruption has taken over the White House but given time we will vote the bums out.
You can't vote other kinds of crook ceo's out of office and they have so much money that they can stay out of jail.
2. Do you feel that our way of life is the best in the world?
No...I don't think that we all have an equal chance even tho we are supposed to.
I think that we are sold too many things, too much junk, diet pills that don't work, etc...
people are allowed to lie in their ads...even political ones so how can a country that is supportive of lies offer the best way of life?

3. Do you think we have the greatest healthcare in the world? (NOT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, BUT HEALTHCARE)
Other countries have the same healthcare and so all of the countries who do...do have the greatest...not just us
4. Is the Government taking away your freedoms?
Yes...the Patriot Act was passed because people are afraid unnecessarily.
Another thing that BushCo is selling yet they should have been ON IT in the briefing when they were told about Bin Laden.

5. Do you trust the Government to handle your healthcare fund without bankrupting it?
I trust in the checks and balances that government has. I wish that more people would get involved to make it better but I do think that we are being bankrupted by pharmaceuticals that are in cahoots with the GOP.
6. Do you trust the Government?
I trust the idea of our Government...you can't trust individuals in any venue to all be trustworthy...there needs to be a system set up of checks and balances.
7. Do you feel that mediocrity is something to be celebrated?
If one is doing the best that they can than YES!
Not all of us are Einsteins or Brain Surgeons...
Therefore...many times people are pointed out as mediocre but if they are making a difference in the world, they are not mediocre in the least.
8. Should there be winners and losers?
Yes...but when people learn how to cheat a system...they should be pointed out as losers.
The welfare mom isn't cheating but a rich guy who benefits from tax breaks that were meant to help the poor is cheating. The guy down the street from me who had a stroke and also has disability and SSI is trying to cut him off isn't a cheater but the guy who is running for president who is collecting 100% disability, is cheating so he is a loser.

9. Is it unfair that some people are better at certain things than others?
Only when their inability is pointed out to them over and over.
If you can celebrate the differences and the person isn't being treated unfairly then it isn't unfair.

10. Do you like the olympics?
yes
except when I hear about cheaters

1. Yes. Especially limited military funding.

2. Hell no. Just look at our demands on the environment or our irresponsible national debt. Ethnocentrism is not a positive.

3. Nope. The quality of healthcare is not measured by what the wealthiest get. The wealthy are cared for everywhere.

4. The government is taking away some of my freedoms.

5. I don't trust the current government to do anything more than profiteering. However I believe that our government can be every bit as capable and trustworthy as nations with better healthcare systems run by the government.

6. I trust them with some things. Not with others. For instance, I don't really feel afraid when I drive over a bridge. I don't feel afraid when I get on a plane. I don't feel afraid that 9-11 wont work when I call. I don't feel afraid that one of our nuclear weapons is going to get accidentally launched in to my back yard. So I trust them with quite a lot. I just know that vigilance is required none-the-less.

7. Depends. If I made a mediocre Olympic high dive I would certainly think it was time to celebrate.

8. Nope.

10. Yup.

1. Do you believe in limited Government?
Yes, unlike the Republicans. It's not what they say, it's what they do and the Republicans have expanded the size of Govt beyond what I thought possible. Almost everytime there is a major problem Bush creates a new position. Dept of Homeland Security... nuff said.

2. Do you feel that our way of life is the best in the world?
Hard to say without living everywhere else in thew world. Extreme nationalism makes a person hate what they don't know and take credit for things they had nothing to do with.

3. Do you think we have the greatest healthcare in the world? (NOT HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, BUT HEALTHCARE)
Certainly the most expensive but refer to answer two. Just because medicine is practiced in another country does not make it inferior.

4. Is the Government taking away your freedoms?
Yes. That is why the Republicans need to get the boot. Republicans show very little respect for the Constitution. Terrys Law... nuff said.

5. Do you trust the Government to handle your healthcare fund without bankrupting it?
Yes. The private sector has been a miserable failure at controlling costs.

6. Do you trust the Government?
To a point as long as there is meaningful oversight in place. Oversight... another thing the Republicans dismantled.

7. Do you feel that mediocrity is something to be celebrated?
After eight years of Bush and the neocons mediocrity would be a huge step up.

8. Should there be winners and losers?
Dumb loaded question full of stereotypes that are based on nonsense.

9. Is it unfair that some people are better at certain things than others?
Stop. This reads like a high school question. Name the legislation you are referring to.

10. Do you like the Olympics?
Normally, but not when they are held in China. Why should we celebrate and help promote with a fascist nation? Don't tell me thew Olympics are not political... nationalism is political.

IF you are willing to answer any of these questions please do.
Just did. Now answer me
Should a party that puts itself above the good of the entire nation be rewarded?
Should a party that blocks good legislation as a political maneuver be rewarded or get the boot?
Should politicians that violate their oath of office to protect the Constitution be impeached and if not, why not?

Now sell me on McCain
Inflation is on the rise, the unemployment rate is rising, the value of the dollar is down, the most foreclosure's since the Great Depression, the price of energy is through the roof, insurance is through the roof as well as medical costs, two wars where we are the aggressors against nations that didn't attack us, violations against the Constitution, banks are failing, massive debt, the economy is stagnant, real wages are down, and ~ 87% of the country thinks the nation is heading in the wrong direction... and we want more of the same old Bush policies? Thats crazy.

HELL YES
Ruined my life.

Our healthcare system killed my grandma. She bled to death in a hospital after a stint fell out.

Except caps on damages imposed by conservative Republican communism kept any lawyer from taking the case. There isn't enough compensatory damages for the elderly to make it worth their time, and the punative damages are non-existent.

The hospital CLAIMED that they had someone in the room doing checks and that she was hooked up to monitoring equipment. Except anyone in medicine will tell you that the signs of someone bleeding to death are easy to spot. Blood pressure goes up while the heart rate goes down. Any degree of monitoring will catch that. My grandma had insurance and was at a highly rated heart center...who probably had innumerable people recovering from bypass surgery...who all had "someone in the room" too...

If there were actual punative damages in place, perhaps the hospitals would provide ACTUAL supervised recovery 8 hours after surgery. As is, they don't even have to deal with lawsuits because lawyers don't want to take cases against hospitals for little potential reward.

1. Yes, I do. I submit it's up to you to prove Obama wants unlimited government, because I'd argue no American ever wanted unlimited government. Different people define where the limits should fall differently, and there's nothing wrong with that.

2. Yes, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.

3. No. I sure as hell don't, because I can't even afford to see a doctor. Maybe YOU do, but WE don't.

4. No. I think the Bush adminstration has tried to take away my freedoms, but has been foiled.

5. What healthcare fund? Get real.

6. I wish I could trust the government. I'd like to trust the government. I really want a trustworthy
government, and that's something I haven't seen from a GOP administration since Ford.

7. Nope.

8. Only if there is a competition. Sometimes people turn things into competitions so they can justify screwing others.

9. It may be unfair, but that's life. I don't think it's unfair.

10. Not a whole lot. The olympics promote nationalism, and I don't think that benefits anyone.

Not one of your questions is a reason to prefer McCain over Obama. Neither is likely to decrease the size of government. Neither will be able to solve the healthcare crisis (although I think Obama has a better plan, for what it's worth). Neither will try to take away my freedoms. Both men are relatively trustworthy especially in comparison to Bush. Neither wants to fundamentally change our "way of life". Claims to the contrary are BS, and nothing more.

I replied without reading the whole thread. Now that I know it was an exercise in the application of a negative stereotype (... to "guage" how socialist I am!), I'm sorry I spent the time.

Now, I dare you: explain why having an opinion that America's healthcare needs improvement makes one a socialist! Explain why thinking government is untrustworthy makes you a better man than me! Explain - and this is the main thing for me - why Democrat is to be associated with mediocrity but Republican is not!

Yes, we were very lucky. The story then took an unusual twist. My partner and I were told that the surgery would have to be sooner and not later. We arrived at the hospital and checked in on the proper floor. I told the people at the front desk that I would be there for the duration. The surgery took five and a half hours. While I was in the waiting area, a number of men came over to me and asked "how is your wife doing?" It then dawned on me that the only available surgery suite happened to be in the maternity ward! Anyway, the surgery was successful. What exactly made the fifth doctor unique? He could have opted for a standard procedure, leaving my partner with about 70% function of his right arm. What changed his mind? My partner is an artrist and 70% was not good enough. Instead, he went for something near full function, albeit risky. He ended up doing the right thing ... as he told me later, "I did no harm". A humble doctor, indeed.
