I don't care about Bush's sex life/marriage problems any more than I cared about Clinton's.
However, if this turns into a major Lewinsky-like scandal, I guarantee we'll see the very Righties who went after Clinton like bloodhounds in heat try to play it off like it's no big deal.

I could learn to care if it would get him out of office. Really, though, I think it plays significantly to many arguments he's used to win support such as
--the party of character
--the party of morality.
--the sanctity of marriage--one man and one woman.
He never missed a chance to show himself as a better person then any liberal, and now here he is just all too mortal.

As you say I wouldn't care except Repugants and holy rollers went ballistic when they heard Clinton got a Lewinsky in the Oval office. Bush and Condi haven't travelled together in years so where do you think they did it? Kiind of explains why Condi left town to visit with holy rollers in the south, gives Laura a chance to cool.

Republicans are so hypocritical, they wouldnt care if Bush was caught red handed --or something-- in the oval office with gannon.
they'd all say that a family's misery was being politicized. Something they, of course, would never stoop to.

Isn't this a hoot, Lindy? Honestly, I don't care either. Should some more respectable rag pick this up and run with it, I might be moved to laugh up my sleeve at the hypocrisy involved.
Hey! While I'm at it, what do you suppose the term, "laugh up my sleeve" means? I just wrote it, but can't explain it.

Sallie,
I believe, "laughing up one's sleeve" is from a more foppish time, when people's clothing was somewhat more...extravagant. It would probably be better understood if we said, "laughing
behind your sleeve." Particularly if you imagine those courtly dandies, with their snuff box in their frilly sleeves saying one thing to your face while smirking behind their generously laced wristlets.

Exactly, bmacak! When laughing up one's sleeve, one is laughing derisively, contemptuously, not with - but at, etc. etc. etc.
I guess it's a foppish sort of thing - and yes, I can envision the dandies all a-smirk. I love it!
Remember the Frenchman on the castle wall in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" shouting, "I fart in your general direction!"? Well, I want to laugh up my sleeve at those sissy boys who think they're running the country.
Anybody else want to laugh up his/her sleeve avec moi? You may also choose to fart in their general direction. Le choice c'est pour vous....

Well, it's getting too hot for sleeves that one can laugh up, or behind.
But if this turns out to have some substance (I'm not counting on it) *and* actually to hurt the right-wingers politically (when pigs fly), I'll happily put on the biggest-sleeved shirt I can find, stick my snoot in the cuffs and snicker, and turn my face to the west and fart in the general direction of Washington, D.C.
Not because I think the private life of the Bushes is particularly my business, any more than the private life of the Clintons was. But I gotta admit, it would do my heart good to see Bush's karma run over his dogma.

While I'm not about to put much stock in this story, given the source, I can't help chuckling over one thing.
Now, I have no links or anything to back this up, since it's not something I saw online, but I remember back during the summer of 2003, when I would occasionally see the Globe while going through the checkout line, and it was a very different sheet back then.
In 2003, the Globe used to run headlines so far to the right, I was surprised the papers didn't fall sideways off the rack; people against the war were regularly run through the shredder on the front page. There was even a little stars-and-stripes inside the 'O' of Globe, just make sure you knew that this was an AMERICAN paper.
If anyone had told me then that within three years the Globe would be running stories about Laura Bush moving out on her husband, I would have told them to lay off the Mad Dog 20/20.
How things will change.

Thanks Nem.

If I only had a brain, cudda, wudda
Whether true or not the Globe has risked lawsuits by DOJ and BuSh minions for slander, not to mention swift boating.
The front page Globe I saw was different. It had a Laura face where BuSh's face is and a smaller picture of BuSh and Condi with sub-title about Laura leaving because of the affair. I guess the Bush minions got to the Globe. If I see the original I'll get a brain.

Ordinarily, I don't rush out to buy those tabloids, however, I must say the $2.99 was a worthwhile read.
I didn't consider the Lewinsky scandal an impeachable defense, but boy was I wrong. There was no security breach during his escapade with Lewinsky. His only crime ( if you would label it as such) was that he lied under oath by saying he did not have an affair with her.
As I recall, Reagan claimed amnesia and could not remember whether he sold arms to the Contra, but was he impeached for that?
At this point, anything to humiliate Bush would be worthwhile. I look forward to seeing him on the witness stand.

I just want to see what happens when Condosleaza turns up pregnant--Does she have an abortion? Does she claim it is someone else's baby? IMO. everyone who voted for that Ahole in 2004 and everyone who supports the continued war in Iraq should be presented with the $500 billion bill for the war. I say let BuShie supporters pay back the treasury for this war.
As Nem says start fightn'em in the trenches and kick'em when they're down.
These are the people who outed Clinton and Lewinsky, after spending millions of taxpayer dollars on the failed investigation of the Arkansas Whitewater deal and jailed Susan McDougal for not lying about the Clintons.
These are the people who swift-boated John McCain, Max Cleland, John Kerry and John Murtha to name a few.
This is the man who ran a campaign to bring dignity to the WH and the presidency post-Monica.
These are the people who at their 2004 NY convention campaign called NY'ers cowards.
These are people who accuse progressive Americans of lacking moral, cowardice in the face of terrorism and of lacking patriotism.
These are the people who told Americans Iraq had WMDs, Iraq was a threat to the US, that Iraqi oil would pay for the war, that Americans would be greeted as liberators, that the WH had nothing to do with outing Valerie Plame, that domestic wiretaps were court ordered, that there is such a thing as enemy combants.
I have said many times there are a lot of important issues to discuss about the governing of this country and ordinarily I could care less about the BuSh sex lies. But this is a battle for the hearts and minds of the silent majority and voting America, to remove these people from influence on government. From the 2000, 2004 elections and last month's elections in CA. progressives better sling all the mud they can dig up, every chance they get. A brick or two in the mud would be appreciated.
