Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson was on the show on Thursday 7-14, he told us where the Right is dead wrong about Valerie Plame. We received a boat load of E-mails asking us to replay the interview, so we did on Friday. In the upcoming days it will be on www.edschultzshow.com, under audio highlights. Tell us what you think about what Johnson had to say.

It was a great interview. Of course, as much as the conservatives "support the troops" they will move to discredit and destroy this man, too. Anyone, no matter how much they've done for this country, will be destroyed by these people. They have no shame.

On the TPM Cafe, Johnson is joined by four other ex-CIA agents, and lay it on the line:
QUOTE
Clearly some in the Bush Administration do not understand the requirement to protect and shield national security assets.  Based on published information we can only conclude that partisan politics by people in the Bush Administration overrode the moral and legal obligations to protect clandestine officers and security assets.

Beyond supporting Mrs. Wilson with our moral support and prayers we want to send a clear message to the political operatives responsible for this.  You are a traitor and you are our enemy.  You should lose your job and probably should go to jail for blowing the cover of a clandestine intelligence officer.

You have set a sickening precedent.  You have warned all U.S. intelligence officers that you may be compromised if you are providing information the White House does not like.  A precedent, as one colleague pointed out during our brief appearances, allows you to build out a case based on previous legal actions and court decisions. It's a slippery slope if it lowers the bar.

Pretty unequivicol, eh?

Keep telling the truth, Ed!

Bet you drive a foreign car; most liberals do.

Liberals do not like to support our union automakers; instead they want to blame the automakers for "missing the market" when they (liberals) just prefer cheaper foreign cars at America's expense.

Take a look at the cars with Kerry stickers vs the cars with Bush stickers. My informal poll showed 80% of Kerry stickers were on foreign cars; mostly Volvos and Saabs; while only 25% of Bush stickers were on foreign cars, mostly Mazdas.

Jeff, try to stay on topic, but because you asked, Ed, Vern, Tank, and myself own nothing but American cars.

Even though I'm off topic, I just wanted to put my 2 cents in and say that I'm a proud liberal, and the owner of 2 union made Saturns. Now back to the topic at hand
jeff
Naw, I was asking Gounion what he drove; not you.
gounion
Now, that's funny; I'm a union activist. I've NEVER owned a foreign-made car. It shows how far off you are; you make wild assumptions on absolutely no facts whatsoever. Try to add to the discussion, Jeffy.

I found a statement that Larry Johnson made fascinating. I listened very closely to the replay to try to get the statement correct, but he said it so fast that I missed it again. He said that John Bolton is a friend of his and that he's been blamed for things that he hasn't done. He seemed to link it to the tactics of this White House, but again, it was one sentence spoken very quickly and not followed up on. Wow! I would love Ed to follow up on this it could be an amazing story!

Why did the other thread get locked already????
To the righty's who brought up 9/11 Commision reports claiming they discreditd Joe Willsion:

http://politus.blogspot.com/2004/11/911-commission-repo...

<snip>
I finally got around to reading the 9/11 Commission Report. One of the things I was interested in finding was the part that debunked Joe Wilson. After all, I had heard over and over from wingnuts that the 9/11 Commission had "discredited" and "disgraced" Wilson.
...
The 9/11 Commission Report never mentions Wilson or the Niger/yellowcake fiasco....Evidently the wingers are confusing the 9/11 Commission report with the Senate Intelligence Committee report about 9/11, two completely different documents. But, the Senate 9/11 Report also did not debunk Wilson. The only criticism of Wilson came from a partisan addendum to the report tacked on by Pat Roberts, Chris Bond, and Orrin Hatch.

The addendum never even attempted to dispute Wilson’s main message that 1) The CIA had sent him to check it out, 2) He investigated in Niger, and informed the CIA that it was highly unlikely that Niger had sold yellowcake to Iraq, and 3) He was alarmed that the whole thing ended up in Bush’s laundry list of phony pretenses for war in his State of the Union address. How has Joe Wilson been discredited in the least?

I thought that interview was very enlightening. Some of the posters here need to listen/read it.

Larry Johnson presented as very intelligent, extremely knowledgeable and very angry that a covert agent would be outted by men (Rove and Libby) at the top of our central government. He may have answered these questions earlier in the interview (I tuned in late), but I would like to have heard Big Eddie ask Mr. Johnson, "In terms of the outting of Ms. Plame, what has he been hearing from other CIA agents?" and "How angry are other agents now that one of their own has been outted, compromising not only Ms. Plame but just about anyone who worked at the companies or agencies with her?"

But it was really an outting, or betraying, of all Americans. The outting of an agent at this level of central government is unprecedented. Right wing conservatives can argue that Joe Wilson just has an axe to grind, but they can't say that about Larry Johnson. It would be great if Big Eddie could interview Mr. Johnson again-- in part as a way of updating us and keeping this issue alive.

And Larry Johnson is a Republican, recommended to the CIA by Orrin Hatch.

I heard a replay of the original interview earlier this week and there was some discussion about CNN program "DEAD WRONG" - my understanding is that it will be replayed by CNN sometime this weekend. I will be away from home and want to set my VCR to record it. Does anyone know the date/time of the reply of Dead Wrong? I need the information within the next 3 hours, please help ASAP! Thanks.
