Liddy used to like to impress the ladies by snuffing out a cigarette in the palm of his hand. When one person asked him, "What's the trick?" He is reported to have smiled and replied, "The 'trick' is not minding the pain."
He had an involvement with the CIA (claimed to be an agent, it's not clear if he was or not) prior to going to work for the Nixon White House. He certainly tried to give the impression that he'd worked as a contract assassin for them. Of course, Chuck Barris (of "The Gong Show") made a similar claim.
You'll have to decide for yourself if it's truth or GLB (getting laid bullshit).
Incidently, they broke in to the Watergate to remove bugs they'd planted previously.
Oh man, I used to love that show.
Didn't he write a book on claiming to be an assasin?
"Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" by Chuck Barris
They made it into a pretty good movie.
I forget who played Barris, but Julia Roberts played the "mole".
George Clooney was also in it as Barris' CIA "handler".
I checked with my friend at NSA and he says the story is basically true.
Some people in the "intelligence community" think to this day, that Barris was actually the mole.
I can't repeat what he had to say about Liddy. It was NOT complimentary.
