Well Mac, for once I have to disagree with you, its 2,300 as of today, but no less than a tragedy and the number since "Mission Accomplished" I am not sure but I imaging its near 2,000... Not to mention the 16,000 plus wounded and many of those very serious....
Mac McFadden
Sorry, that was a mistype error. I meant 2300.

Three years into the civil war Grant was advancing on Richmond

Three years into WW2 the allies were at the Rhine

Three years into Iraq US has yet to fully secure the road from Baghdad to the airport.

In WWII the tax rate for the top 1% of wage earners was 96%. With sacrifice we were building an aircraft carrier every month. Now, we can't even get armored vehicles or adequate body armor for our soldiers.

I guess in WWII we had a President that couldn't use his legs but still knew how to move forward...

He used his resources and people were undeniably supportive. I saw a documentary about the quick work and production of battleships, it truly was a study in production, efficiency, and determination! There is a town up here where Patton is from and when you drive from this town as well as many of the other wealthy communities you will see the remains of granite bases which once held iron fencing, now replaced with wood. Even the wealthy were inspired to help out freely., and for a good cause. I daresay that today you would be hard pressed to find these very same families willing to donate a toothpick to Bush! It's a total farce this run for the oil territories!

http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Bush_to_...urity_0315.html
And for more perspective;
President Bush plans to issue a new national security strategy Thursday reaffirming his doctrine of pre-emptive war against terrorists and hostile states with chemical, biological or nuclear weapons, despite the troubled experience in Iraq," begins a story slated for the front page of Thursday's Washington Post, RAW STORY has learned.

Excerpts

In his revised version, Bush offers no second thoughts about the preemption policy, saying it "remains the same" and defending it as necessary for a country in the "early years of a long struggle" akin to the Cold War. In a nod to critics in Europe, the document places a greater emphasis on working in concert with allies and declares diplomacy to be "our strong preference" in tackling the threat of weapons of mass destruction.

If necessary, however, under long-standing principles of self defense, we do not rule out use of force before attacks occur, even if uncertainty remains as to the time and place of the enemy's attack," the document continues. "When the consequences of an attack with WMD are potentially so devastating, we cannot afford to stand idly by as grave dangers materialize."

Such language could be seen as provocative at a time when the United States and its European allies have brought Iran before the U.N. Security Council to answer allegations that it is secretly developing nuclear weapons. At a news conference in January, Bush described an Iran with nuclear arms as a "grave threat to the security of the world."

So not only is he willing to continue in Iraq, he is threatening more of any other country.
How much longer do you think the Congress will continue this madness?
Or must we throw the majority of them out in order to get ANY meaningful change?
RainHusseinWater
Mitch, I saw that too, posted in gen....but this gives me the creeps. huh.gif
Last week or more we read about new 'secret' C130 gunships moved in to 'secret bases in Irag'....next they move more troops to Baghdad.....now this as his ratings drop to near 30%.....this is his M.O....We've seen it before.
Im fearing this whack job is gonna bio chem Iran...just to see how it works out. blink.gif

You won't have to add very many more daze to this thread because Bush said things were going great the last couple of days during his "town hall meeting" speeches and press conference.

1060 daze since we accomplishded the mission in Iraq, according to fearless leader. Our own ambassador to Iraq has stated that the sectarian militias are inflicting more casualties on the Iraqi people than the insurgents are. That sure sounds like civil war to me!

Well its 1061 days today, and when George W. Bush leaves office it will be 2081 and I dare speculate that a majority of those troops there now will still be there, and the death toll of our service people will be well over 3,500 or more... The Bush administration is complaining loudly that the media is not reporting the GOOD NEWS coming out of Iraq.... Rebuilding a bridge, or restoring power plants blown up as a tactical consequence of war is not good news to me when American Soldiers are killed daily, and scores of Iraqi citizens die each day.... But the method of the Bush et al regime is to discredit the messenger and the message falls silent or can be dismissed... The Dan Rather incident was a small example, yes those documents might have been proven a recreation, but the story has never been discredited, George Bush's military record is a fraud and by the Republican standards he is a very UNPATRIOTIC Citizen, for he did dodge the draft during Viet Nam.... His cowboy attitude and 'Aw shucks' personality cannot be overlooked because he is a religious person, and his 'Wanted Dead or Alive' attitude cannot erase his past as a drunk draft dodger...

No, They want to run around like Wolfie thinking that the death toll is about half of what it actually is. That is one of the reasons they hated Sheehan's protests. They don't want to face up to what they have done. Looking at all those crosses is a reality check. I look at each one a thinking "someone out there is missing a father, mother, sister or brother". It's depressing but we have to look at it.
