Rain, what a great job you have done in keeping this thread updated since my departure! It's just a shame that we have to keep track of these fine Americans in such a manner. BTW there have been 18,356 wounded in Iraq, 9920 of whom were returned to duty within 72 hours and 8436 who were not. I still would like to have a figure as to how many have sustained permanent injuries out of those 8436. Anybody?

According to http://icasualties.org/oif/IraqiDeaths.aspx there have been 4791 Iraqi military and police force deaths since figures have been kept (which they don't really state) with the assertion that there have been 10046 civilian deaths since the war began. Does it seem logical to anyone that there have only been two civilian deaths for every one military/police in Iraq? It doesn't really add up for me.

The President estimated 30,000 Iraqi deaths some time ago; the McLaughlin group puts it at over 100,000. It's possible that they only started doing body counts a few months ago.

I just noticed that they started their count in January, 2005 and have a ? mark in the space for prior to 2005. With a post Jan, 2005 total of 3491 for Iraqi military/police deaths, this makes an 3:1 ratio to civilian deaths. Still seems a bit out of whack.

Actually, I believe that the moron has his eyes open. The problem is that he is a zealot. He fervently and firmly believes in his own infallablility. Plus, if he makes a mistake then God fogives him and he just rolls on. This man is a perfect example of what happens when religion intrudes into politics. People who believe that they speak or act for God end up creating the most oppressive and murderous regimes.

There have now been 18,490 Americans injured in Iraq with 8501 of them being hurt badly enough that they were not able to be returned to duty within 72 hours. Does anybody have information about how many have been treated at the Ramstein(?) facility in Germany and returned home? I think that is the primary evacuation facility for those injured in Iraq.

This week was a bad one, both for our troops who were KIA and for those injured. There were 16 killed in action this week and 82 injured as a result of hostilities. As I have said before, those long-term costs of this war will not be known for many years to come and include both the opportunity costs of those lost and the costs of caring for those with life-long physical and mental injuries. 1150 days of war with 2517 American dead and 18,572 injured (not counting the mental problems that have been manifested and will continue to show up for years to come) is just too heavy a toll to extract on this generation. Was this war worth it? IMO, no!

Aleman, I consider 113 "coalition" deaths to be 113 too many. For that matter, the list of American casualties and Iraqi casualties number far too many. I would NOT like to see the soldiers of other countries dying in place of Americans. I would like to see the killing stop, and frankly nothing else is acceptable.

I agree wholeheartedly with you, Doc. Entering into this war was a foolheardy endeavor from the beginning. Fortunately, most of the coalition partners saw the folly and bailed out. BTW, I read that according the the Baghdad morgue that they can attest to at least 50,000 Iraqi civilian dead, at least three times as many as Bush has admitted knowledge of. This war has been too costly for all involved.
