"It’s been a rough few years for lobbyists. They have been attacked by President Barack Obama. They have been targeted in corruption probes. And they have been hurt by the economy.
And many have decided they’re not going to take it anymore. A record number of lobbyists have quit the business this year, according to a study released today. About 1,400 lobbyists, or 8% of the industry, left in the three-month period ending June 30, according to a joint study of lobbying records by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics and OMB Watch. Typically, a few hundred lobbyists leave the business every quarter..." Lobbyists Quit In Record Numbers -------------------- "People who don't believe in government have no business running the government." - Thom Hartmann
"If you cut a hole in the Bible in all the places that mention helping the poor, you can smuggle Rush Limbaugh's drugs in it." - Al Franken "If you are for small government than you are for corporate power. People cannot make massive change by themselves. The people get action through the government. Without government, corporations will run rampant and we the people will suffer. Who else but government is big enough to take on corporations?" - Thom Hartmann |

8%? Well, that's a start. I'd rather see 92% up and quit. Or 100%. If Congress needs to learn about a subject, they can hold hearings and have them televised on CSPAN so we can all see who's coming to the table. As citizens, we don't have a seat unless our lives are so extraordinary our problems come to the attention of Congress. If we had public financing of campaigns we'd see lobbyists quit in droves.

It's always about what they haven't done yet. WELL DONE MR. PRESIDENT! -------------------- ![]() Is uniformity attainable? Millions of men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined, imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth. - Thomas Jefferson Notes on The State of Virginia (1781) The RW desire to force uniformity continues, the hypocrites remain, and the millions of victims gain new company daily. |

I read a huge article about McConnell yesterday from his re-election campaign in 2006 and you can't believe how much McConnell worships money. And then he uses that money to give to other Republicans to give out to lobbyists and friends. Alan Simpson, the ex-Senator of Wyoming, said that the money assured access, and those top donors received special attention to the concerns they have. He said that many Senators were simply "bought and paid for". |

My dad told me legislators are like women who walk the streets for money. He said it many times. He wasn't wrong, and this was back in the '60s. Nothing's changed.

These are probably jobs that the Republiklans wanted the Stimulus dollars to go toward saving. |
