From Big Eddie:
Michelle Bachman and Robin Hayes, two republican representatives that were never in danger of losing their seats are waking up to a different playing field this morning. Having injected themselves into the game with outlandish statements and reversals, the Minnesota and North Carolina Congressional members are on the verge of being sidelined by voters. Savvy news consumers know the stories behind these two righties, but the reaction of voters and the fallout is more than interesting. Didn't this happen in the last election cycle? Didn't either one of these elected officials pay attention to what happened to George Allen in Virginia? The YouTube culture strikes again. Those dam recorders that get sound can destroy everything can't they! The result has been an influx of cash to their opponent's war chest and news coverage challenging candidates dream about. The bottom line, the American people are paying attention to every word in these final days. Polls can shift, swing, change, and most of all give the one time confident voter cold feet. Liberals must stay vigilant. This mission is not accomplished. Let's not make the same mistake the last guy made by hanging the banner too soon. |

Having abandoned all hope of persuading voters that Republikan's actually have a clue about governance, they are now turning to their favorite fallback argument: FEAR & LOATHING.
Reps. AND the mainstream news media just don't seem to get the fact that the electorate IS paying attention and we DO recognize their tactics. Bachmann clearly needs to be put on medication and Hayes is, unfortunately, typical of the tarheel old boys network of racists and bigots. Note to Republican's: after 8 years of mismanagement, warmongering, lies and outright cheating, we aren't going to put you in office in any capacity. Trickle down economics is a joke, conservatism was slaughtered by your current membership and every time you open your mouth, all we see are your lies. It is time to admit....the Grand Old Party has left the building (and neocons need to be put in jail for their crimes.) If the good people of Minnesota and North Carolina have a single brain cell working, they will send these two troglodytes back into the workforce; I'd be curious to see who would actually give them a REAL job. |

I totally agree. I am calling FL and OH today. I am off on November 4 to drive voters to the polls. I am being asked to go to FL too. We can't get complacent. In honor of Obama's trip to see "Toot" I am committed to making as many calls as I can while he's gone. We can celebrate on November 5. Right now we have to be focused.

I'm an white Independent Voter, recently retired and live in rural NC. Before retiring, I lived in major cities across the US (Atlana, DC, Philly, NY etc,). The racism being displayed in this campaign season has me second guessing why I ever choose to retire in the US.
And make no mistake about it, before Nov. 4th the racism and anti-American mud-slinging is just going to get worse. Politicians like Hayes and Bachman are without question racist. Their remarks, interviews, and speeches make me sick to my stomach. Why can't they just dicuss the issues? That's what all Americans should want to hear. I pray every night that any politician who is racist in any way, shape, or form will be removed or not win their office. Voters like you and me can reverse this situation. Those two had it coming. Not only are they stupid but arrogant and stupid. The world has changed, we now have You Tube and so many bloggers, particulary Progressive blog sites, nothing gets lost, everything is out in the open. Those Repuuublicans have not learned anything, they still think that most of us are like "Tommy" blinders on and earplugs in .

We need to stick to the high road which, as Obama has shown, can be done with TRUTH and GREAT STRENGTH, responding to every smear immediately with FACTS and counter-attacking on the ISSUES (which, as Obama repeatedly stated in the last debate, "is what the American People want"). And as you say, be vigilant for those inevitable smears and hate-speak! Following Obama's example, it looks like all we ultimately need to do is keep feeding the lying, smearing Republicans more ROPE, with which they eventually hang themselves... -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() Stolen elections, 911 questions, a WAR for LIES, Outing of a covert CIA agent for Revenge, illegal wire-tapping Americans, LIES, profiteering by Big Oil, TORTURE, secret prisons, Katrina failures, Disenfranchisement, Congressional complicity, corruption, greed, Homeland INsecurity, No Oversight, signing statements, Abuse of Power....NO PEACE WITHOUT JUSTICE |

We in Minnesota have known what and who Michelle Bachman really is. From hiding in the bushes at Pride rallies to trying to catch people not paying to ride the light rail - she's just plain nuts. (Not to mention the fact that God told her to run for office after fasting for three days) The really nice thing about these people saying all these things - is that they are showing their true colors on their own. The old saying, give them enough rope... seems to be very appropriate here. Looking at the difference in the attitudes at Obama rallies and McSame and Palin rallies is astonishing. Listening to folks coming out of those rallies reminds one of the KKK meetings. The right definitely knows it's base - fear and hate work with these people. This is all the more reason that we cannot rest - we must fight on - I am still very afraid of those voting machines and the voter suppression. We need to know what to do if that happens - we need to be proactive this time! Hey Big Ed,
I think I read somewhere that the god's make vain those whom they're about to destroy. It seems there are an awful lot of Republicans/conservatives at that point in their careers/lives. It's amusing! And here's the sandwich job, while the conservatives seem to be losing ground they still have the potential to STEAL the election through electronic manipulation and downright vote blocking. All progressives must be vigilant of this conservative cheating. Frank -------------------- MRFranks

Hi Ed,
Greetings from Fort Collins - home of Betsy Markey (D) who is running against Congresswoman Musgrave, who also lost her advertising support from the RNCC yesterday. See www.talkingpointsmemo.com/ and you'll see a photo of her side by side with Michelle Bachmann's. Musgrave has been in the House for 3 terms and comes from rural eastern Colorado. Musgrave is the one, during her first two terms of office, who brought us the bill to change the Constitution to make certain gays don't get married! Fortunately each time she brought this forward it failed!!! But there is lots more about her and none of it is positive. She has run a down and dirty campaign against a lovely and very bright candidate (Betsy Markey) www.markeyforcongress.com. And, Betsy has polled higher than Musgrave for over a year even though this is a Republican district (#4) in Colorado. I believe they looked at a Musgrave created poll (which was never published) taken two years ago and then watched a debate via a Greeley Tribune website. And, said, as we have been saying "enough is enough" ! I heard the discussion on my way to and from her office today but my cell was at home getting juiced up. I remember so well your time in Fort Collins when you came and spoke to the Jefferson Jackson Day Dinner and had the audience on their feet! Thank you!!! Ann Molison Fort Collins, CO |

What I want to know is whether or not people are coming to their senses when it comes to the raves and rants of people elected to represent them. Ah! the beauty of free speech. Allowing incessant yamering enables the bull to eventually surface and show its' true stench. I love it when desperate Republicans develop verbal suicide.

Even though these dumbasses make every attempt to self destruct, we can't count on them to get the job done. There are way too many uninformed and underinformed citizens out there who are way too easily manipulated. Even though we have the internet and alternative media to help get the truth out, many refuse to believe what they see, and the internet is filled to overflowing with misinformation and outright lies. We have to continue to work our butts off in order to counter the flow of the tides of slime and innuendo and get the truth out. The job is far from done and the time remaining is rapidly ticking away.

Bachmann and the others are going to get theirs in the polls.
The conservanazi republikans are a racist lot. They are injecting race into the politcal process because they know they are losing. I believe they are hoping to get the dumbest, most racist of the white trash Americans to vote for them. McInsane has had his little toady incident in PA and was trying to use it for his campaign. He got caught at it. See Oct. 24 showing of Keith Olbermann and see his comments on the subject. I was driving back home after 3 weeks vacation. I use a CB radio for information. I listen to what the truckers say. Today, there were more than enough idiots out there proclaiming that Obama was a: racist, a Muslim, a communist, a socialist, the anti-christ. There were lots of people arguing against those types of insults. It shows what type of problems have been created by all this polarization of the electorate. The conservanazis have been subtly injecting racism, demonization of their oppostion, and hatred for those they can't defeat. It's only going to get worse unless we can stop this type of crap on our airwaves soon. It will result in a major racial/political incident if we are not careful. I know Ed speaks about it, but it is getting worse. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO PUT A STOP TO THIS POLARIZATION OF THE POPULATION? WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO GET THIS TYPE OF HATRED OFF THE AIRWAVES? I WANT YOU TO REALIZE JUST HOW MAD THE CONSERVANAZIS WERE WHEN PRESIDENT CLINTON BEAT whimp bu$h. NOW, MULTIPLY THAT IF OBAMA WINS (I BELIEVE HE WILL WIN) AND ADD RACISM TO IT. limpblah WILL BE OPENLY RANTING HIS RACIST AND SEXIST CRAP OVER THE AIRWAVES. |
