I have no idea whether the affair story is true or not, and I don't care. What I do care about is John McCain -- and this has been well documented -- is talking all the time about being a reformer and a maverick, and in fact, he has taken thousands of dollars from corporations, ridden on their corporate jets, and then turned around and tried to do favors for them and get projects approved. He has tons of lobbyists on his staff. This is a guy who is very close to the lobbyist community, a guy who has been documented again and again taking contributions and then doing favors for it. This is not a guy who is a reformer. This is a guy who has been in Washington for 25 years and wants to give us four more years of the same, and I don't think we need that ... This goes all the way back to the Keating Five scandal and the S&L scandals, where he took a hundred thousand donations, rode on corporate jets and then intervened on Charles Keating's behalf -- and again and again we see this ... This is not a guy who is a reformer. He talks about change, and he makes a big deal about not being like Bush when in fact he is Bush. He voted for Bush's tax cuts after saying he didn't, and has been responsible for a $6 trillion national debt that our children are going to have to pay. He thinks we ought to stay in Iraq for 100 years. He thought it was great that the president vetoed healthcare for our kids under 18. This is four more years of George Bush, and I don't think the American people are going to buy it. -- Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean, discussing McCain in an interview with "National Journal on Air." http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/index.html McCain's TRUE Love: ![]() |

I just got the new Howard Dean letter. He says McCain is breaking the federal campaign finance law by accepting additional contributions.
QUOTE There was a lot of talk last week about John McCain's blatant hypocrisy on ethics and integrity in Washington. Here we go again. McCain is now breaking the law by ignoring the campaign spending restrictions for the Republican primary that came when he asked for federal matching funds -- funds he used as collateral on a loan that helped keep his campaign going. But now that the lobbyist and special interest money has started pouring into his campaign, he's trying to back out of the promise he made just a few months ago. They're feeding so much cash into his bank account, this "reformer" wants nothing to do with federal campaign finance laws anymore. And this is the guy who wants Sen. Obama to only use public campaign financing in the general???? I'm beginning to understand why Republicans establishment hates Sen. McCain, he's a lying, cheating, brown nose, flip-flopping, bully. -------------------- Small arms - the real WMDs
If constituents write or call their congressional and state representatives about every issue, those representatives will remember who they represent and how they should vote on those issues. A Congress that needs leadership from a president is worthless to the people they were elected to represent. There is no place or role in the government of the United States of America for "The Market". "The Market" is not an elected local, a state or a federal government. "The Market" is not a US citizen or foreign national. "The Market" does not make law, does not pay taxes and does not vote. "The Market" is not described in the Constitution of the United States of America. "As the Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion;" - (Treaty of Tripoli, 1797 - signed by President John Adams |
