Randi Rhodes was no more assaulted by a right-wing fanatic on Monday than Dick Cheney was. She, in fact, fell down and injured her teeth outside of a Midtown Irish bar at around 6 o'clock Sunday evening after downing about fourteen Ketel One Bloody Marys. She was abusive to the barstaff and generally gross, crass, loud, and pretentious. I genuinely hope she has a speedy recovery. I never would've disclosed this (I believe that anyone should feel free to hang out at Irish pubs at any time and not be concerned about someone publishing their behavior) if Air America hadn't grossly interpreted a drunken indiscretion and allowed it to be morphed into some bullish rhetoric on air. Whatever journalistic integrity the station may have ever had is now completely compromised. The manipulation of the public diminishes any cause, whether just or fabricated.

New York, NY (UPSI) - New York Police Department detectives have released composite drawings of two unknown white male suspects wanted in the assault last night on Air America talkshow host Randi Rhodes. The suspects are described as both being in their 50s, one tall, the other shorter and markedly obese. Police are said to be ruling out robbery as a motive and looking into the possibility of charges for a hate crime.

"Ms. Rhodes is doing well and resting comfortably, and we are fortunate that she was able to provide such a detailed account," stated a police spokesperson. "Clearly there was an extreme degree of violence and invective directed toward Miss Rhodes, and there may have been others involved, participating under direction from the two suspects."

Rhodes was initially felt to be the victim of a mugging, but rumors of a politically motivated attack because of her left-leaning talk show appeared to be gaining credibility.

Right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh expressed his sympathy to Rhodes, but scoffed at the idea that she was a victim of right-wing hatred. "New York is a tough town, and it's a liberal town. It's full of drugs and other perversions that you would expect from years of Democrat influence. She was probably beaten up by someone looking for OxyContin."

Likewise, right-wing personality Bill O'Reilly went further, saying that Rhodes was largely responsible for her own assault, and "probably, in many ways enjoyed the attack." "I have cautioned the left for years," stated O'Reilly, "and maybe now they'll be able to see just how mad they've made some people. I hope she gets better really soon, but there's nothing out of the ordinary here, just the usual suspects."

There's a line or two that is funny --- but given the outrageous things the right says...
as I said in a prior post, it could be either a very bad parody, or an attack.

None of us knows what happened to Rhandi. But I hope she gets well soon. I am disgusted by the usual slime that right wingers ooze here. Same people that attacked the little boy Graham. Is it possible lefties are as bad??

Fact is no one knows what happened. She may not know because she may have suffered a concussion in the fall or attack. It is still possible she got mugged. If she was mugged it is still possible it was a rightie. Because she may not remember would likely be the reason she did not call police. As an ex-ICU nurse I have seen many patients who have had head injuries. they do not remember their accidents. Some may eventually but many never will. So unless there is a witness, neither we OR Randi will know.

So its not fair to make these wild assumptions. And, I hope you all join me in wishing Randi the best and to get better.
